On the ninernation.net board, there is a thread that says Coastal Carolina will announce it is joining the Sun Belt Conference tomorrow.

It makes sense for the Sun Belt because they have 11 football members and need 12 for a championship game. It adds a closer rival for Appalachian State and Georgia Southern.

This should help UNCW in scheduling Coastal Carolina in basketball. Coastal might want non-conference games that don't require plane flights.

Hi guys, a Coastal fan here - just bouncing around the forums and came across this thread.

Coastal really wanted into the CAA (and SoCon at one time) but just couldn't get the invite. We weren't looking to go FBS but the Sun Belt came knocking and we jumped at the opportunity. If we would have been in the CAA I doubt we'd seriously consider FBS, but since we had no other options I think it made a lot of sense - especially with App and Ga Southern in the conference.

I do hope that we schedule UNCW and CofC in all sports every season - solid OOC competition and easy travel for all involved.
