Yep!!! Yep!!! Yep!!!

Would love going to Commonwealth Stadium. One of the smaller SEC stadiums at about 67K.

MOB pulled 1 for 1 with Mizzou... why would we have to play at UK twice? I'd rather take our chances with scheduling in 2017 and 2018 than accept UK for three games... Theyd be better off scheduling another team for one of those UAB games and do a 1-1 with UT. I doubt we would take less. Nor should we. We think we're big time, and deserve better. That has to be the attitude. ISU = UK football. I don't want to play 2 times in a no name SEC football school. Sure it's a chance to prove, but it's also giving the big guy the upper hand and advantage which they shouldn't have IMO. I'd do a 1 and done with UK to fill the 2016 schedule. But seeing we already have 2 away games NON-MAC for that year, even that is a stretch.

There are no "no name" SEC programs. UK has turned out such FB names as Parilli, Schnellenberger, Blanda, Claiborne, etc. It's a great game day experience and certainly puts a SEC program on the schedule that helps UT in recruiting. Not a far drive from Toledo.

Looking back at the Missouri game from the outside with no hard information as to how it was scheduled, I would have to guess that particular 1 for 1 contract probably depended more on UT HOF member Gary Pinkel than it did on MOB. OTOH UT did get a 1 for 1 with Iowa State which I do give MOB full credit for.

Btw, UK is putting $120 million into Commonweath Stadium renovations. They are supposed to be finished for their Sept 5th game

UAB had the 2-for-1 and Kentucky is trying to replace that in a simple way. UT has very little control over it. If UT said, "No, we want a 1-for-1," then UK would just move on to the next team on its list.

Also, UT is big time? Since when? I love the team and school, grew up watching them, and got a master's degree there, but you must have a much different definition of the term "big time." A team with no division titles in 10 years in a weak conference isn't big time and won't dictate the contract with a power conference team.

I firmly believe we are the glue to the conference. We hold a decent name and have beaten many large schools over the decades. Toledo regularly has the toughest shedule in the conference and without a doubt gets the most P5ers in our stadium. Why? Because in this G5 we have great facilities, and a winning tradition (regardless of championships) that makes us a good get compared to most teams in the g5. Name 10 G5s with more pull than UT in football? We arent even one of the teams with a 50k seat stadium and we make out fine scheduling and making primetime TV events. We are important to the MAC and sit in a very tough market to recruit and succeed. Big time in my eyes, but on a scale with all 126 FBS programs, we're not chopped liver. We shouldnt accept 2-1s with a team ranked lower than us just about every year, regardless of conference affiliation.

RE: Football - Toledo vs Kentucky
UfoTFans, I would like to think more positively of our programs than I do but the reality is we are NOT big time. Agree that Missou was a Pinkle driven 1 for 1 but agree that ISU was different and probably MOB, and our status of high end MAC school with decent attendance. Lets face it the MAC has little to no significant cred in the big picture. Our only hope is that the G5s can ban together and develop some clout to extend their life cycle moving forward. I think with good leadership they can do that with good results.

I say take what KU will give us and keep looking forward. Go Rockets.

All im saying is going for a 1 and 1 with the possibility of them turning us down is worth it because the chances of us getting a better 1 for 1 is there. Even if an FCS game is thrown in that mix. They're nothing better than Vandy, Indiana, Purdue, Colorado, or ISU. Or on the same level as the big G5's... Nevada, Boise, ECU, Marshall, SMU, UCF, UC etc..

RE: Football - Toledo vs Kentucky
the main thing is to get a home game. 1 for 1 would be ideal, but we would have 25k and they will have 45k and a stronger tv deal so they have financial leverage to go with perception. we know that toledo is as good as or nearly as good as the lower half of the p5 programs. but some of those programs are still much stronger in terms of fan, media support and conference clout. we need to win some of these close games with these big name teams to increase our leverage and status.

Now that's big time. Think of all the things that could be done to the Glass Bowl with that kind of money, hell or even just half of that.

RE: Football - Toledo vs Kentucky
I like the idea of a Toledo / Kentucky matchup. Can't do anything about the 2 for 1 because it's already in place for them. The Wildcats are by no means a powerhouse of any sorts in football but they would present a tough challenge for our Rockets. Kentucky had a top-20 recruiting class in 2014 and a pretty decent one in 2013. Other than that, their classes haven't been much to brag about, comparable to Toledo's with mainly 3 stars and 2 stars. So, I like our chances, especially if they come to the Glass City.

Would be a nice homecoming game for Woodside to play at UK his senior year. Perhaps he can help pack the stands with Rocket fans.

Well maybe we can schedule UAB to help them fill their openings?
