Looks like we may as well get comfortable. No Big-12 expansion is coming per Bowlsby after the first day of the Big12 Spring Meetings.


And adding a conference championship game just doesn’t make sense. At least, not as long as the league has only 10 members. On that note, Bowlsby reiterated that the league has “no interest” in expansion, and certainly not simply in order to stage a championship game. The financial numbers in adding two new schools — or four, if you wanted to keep going — just don’t work out, regardless of the combination.

Good. I've grown to really like this conference. Honestly, we're all exactly where we need to be, and that's obvious by how competitive all the games are.

They got us for filler, and they are not 'invested' in building us up.. That is for their Power conference properties.

Our job is to rise up in spite of ESPN, and become a force that cannot be ignored.

FYI!!!! The team that caused the refusal of the last BE contract was Pittsburg and to my knowledge they're in a Paid Conference now aren't they? So what's the harm in calling ESPN and telling them to anti up or PISS-OFF!!!!

If we got an invite to any P conference I'd be all for it. Until then, I'm invested in building up the AAC to reach it's ceiling. If you've got a better action plan, please share it!

I do as well. I think this conference is very good and has yet to realize its full potential in competition or dollars.

The Big East didn't have UT and OU. If the Big 12 were to collapse, it would be whenever UT and OU decided so, and adding or not adding a couple schools from the AAC wouldn't make any difference.

I do!!! We are in the eastern time zone along with 2/3's the population of this country. I know many are against it but we honestly could expand a couple teams and push our own content on items such as Roku and others. We aren't getting paid what we're worth and that isn't likely to change so, why count on ESPN. Take the initiative expand and prepare ourselves for war. Move to 16 teams, create 4 localized divisions and market ourselves as such. We are never going to get paid our worth from one suitor. We need to have more then one Media partner. Entice Fox, Time Warner, Comcast, you name it. Split the pie and build our programs while at least getting closer to what the conference is worth.

It's more like a Volvo for $1 and change...

That is, the aac is a good quality conference but doesn't have the sizzle to compete with the elite conferences much like Volvo isn't in the same class as BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, Audi...

Our hope lie in the playoffs expanding and the AAC getting an auto bid so we can try and decide things on the field. Imagine that....

Well I am not sure about that but they do have all of the leverage. They will raise our contract but not to where we should be. The p6 dream is not dead

The key is for the conference to average 40K a game in attendance. Very hard to ignore a league where the average crowd is 40K. That probably means you have a few that barely crack 30K and several that are bumping up against 60K.

Guys they are waiting for the legislation to go through for deregulation. Just as he second guessed his move publicly they will have to do it again if it doesn't go through they will dissolve and separate at the next go round.
