Baseball question regarding tie-breaking scenarios
So earlier this season we (USM) had one of our conference games rained out vs La Tech and it wasn't made up...so we've played one less conference game than everyone else. After this weekend our conference record is 13-10 and UTSA's is 13-11. For the sake of final conference standings, if the regular season ended today then who wins the tie-breaker? Is it USM because we have one less loss (even though we lost our series to them 1-2 a few weeks back) or does the # of losses not even matter and UTSA would in fact hold the tie-breaker because they won the series earlier this season??? This tie-breaker would determine who is #4 and #5....

RE: Baseball question regarding tie-breaking scenarios
I don't know what the official tie-breaker procedure is, nor do I have the will to look it up. But if it were up to me, I'd give you guys the tie-breaker because 13-10 is a better conference record than 13-11. Yeah, we played one more game, and have one more loss as a result. But in my mind, we don't deserve that tie-breaker unless we had won that extra game. Losing two of three to lowly La Tech this weekend doesn't help us either. Kind of embarrassing when La Tech's only C-USA series win so far this season is at our expense (lol). Whether we play more games or less, if we don't win a higher percentage of them than the next guy, we don't deserve it.

We'd be a half game ahead so there would be no reason to have a tiebreaker.

Coach Goff is getting the guys lined out. If they started the season like how they're finishing we'd be fighting for a spot in the tournament. I'm pretty sure the roster is mostly the same from last year's Wade Simoneaux team that went 15-35. He's done a hell of a job with the roster he's had to work with.
