Thurber gets another CG and the win.

Remember when ULL fans told us last year they would treat our field as a launching pad?

Mountaineers beat the Cajuns, 2-1

Mountaineer's pitcher, Thurber(4-8), pitched a complete game getting the win, giving up a homerun to Trosclair in the 1st and scattered 4 hits the remainder of the game with 11 strikeouts and no walks

Leger had an equally strong start for the Cajuns holding the Mountaineers to two runs (one earned) on seven hits in 7.2 innings with 6 strikeouts and no walks to fall to 5-3 on the season.

Cajuns were outhit 7-5, giving up a homerun to Burris in the 3rd and a fielding error and a pair wild pitches put the winning run on 3rd that ended up scoring off a double by Dobson in the 5th

Thanks bullit. Surprised he even made the trip to GA. Hope it's not too much too soon but I'm happy to see he is feeling up to a little bit.

Well, there are still two games left in the series and our pitching takes a dip after Thurber.

Whoever said that didn't know what they were talking about. I was very worried about today's game because we haven't been hitting the ball. UNO outhit the Cajuns 10-4 on Wednesday.

The Cajuns lost every hitter but one, Trahan, to the Pros from last years team. So whoever said that last year had no clue what kind of hitting team the Cajuns would have this year.

This years team is a different animal than last years dream team. Like D1 Baseball.com magazine put it about last years team in a feature article about Blake Trahan, a player back from last year, that they would go down in history as the best team in College Baseball to not make it to the CWS.

http://www.d1baseball.com/features/golde...ke-trahan/

QUOTE "The Cajuns losing several key cogs from a team that finished last season with a 58-10 overall record, and going down in history as one of the best teams ever not to reach the College World Series, Trahan has had to tweak his role on this team just a bit. The Cajuns, thanks to the loss of Austin Robichaux and Carson Baranik, among others, have a trio of freshmen starting pitchers, and the offense certainly isn’t as explosive without Jace Conrad, Caleb Adams, Ryan Leonards, Seth Harrison, and others. Last year’s Cajuns lineup finished with a .317 batting average, and that was with the old balls. By comparison, this year’s lineup does have some pop with Stefan Trosclair and others leading the way, but sits at a .282 batting average with just a month left to the regular season."

Congrats to south Alabama tonight. They were clearly the better team especially offensively. 0 strikeouts for them tonight is an impressive stat.

In baseball, never ever say "very likely" about anything except that you'll show up to play (and even then the bus could break down).

stAte beat Kstate 11-6. We actually had 3 home runs. I didn't know you were allowed to do that.

I have a working theory that OOC teams don't know enough about us. Most league teams understand by now that we don't have a single hitter who can hit a breaking pitch. Yet, we can crush a fastball that isn't located properly. We see far more fastballs in OOC play.

It explains while a pitcher that might be taken #1 overall in the draft this year can give up 7 runs to us in 4 innings, but Georgia Southern's midweek starter can throw 6 hitless innings.

Maddening.

I didn't say 100% guarantee, but with the way we have been playing, a sweep was very likely over a last place App State team.

App State's got one really good starter. I figured this one would be close...

You guys better get those bats going if you want to make the NCAA's...that loss is going to destroy your RPI.

You faced our best starter who has been a real hard luck performer this year. He has a losing record but an ERA well under 3. Can't say the same for the rest of the staff.

Not knocking your best pitcher, but I am certain the Cajun bats have been waning of late, and culminated with a great performance by your man. You guys took care of your error, we compounded ours. Who knows how this game ends if we take care of ours.

You dropped from 35-44 with just that one loss. Inside 40 is a good NCAA number. Once you get outside 40, you are leaving excuses to leave you guys out.

And win the next 2 and we could be right back... Destroy our RPI is a stretch... Still 44 with 6 remaining road games on our schedule... All winnable games. Plus 1.3 times 6
