Remind me never to cheer for Texas State or Troy again.

AState blows a lead in the 6th, loses to Kansas State 12-6

I hope some of our fans will give Springs his due credit now. He like Thurber has pitched much better than his record indicates. Not as well as Thurber but still a tough luck guy most of the year. If we only had a bullpen...

I think the bullpen problems has more to do with the situations they are put in more than their talent level. Jones has a knack for leaving in pitchers to start an inning when it's probably a bad idea, then after 2-3 batters making a frantic change with runners on base. Today, Springs came out for the ninth on 116 pitches and then was pulled for Whaley after putting runners on. Thankfully the lead was 4 runs.

There were also plenty of situations where he brought guys in to start an inning and they still gave up a lead. I try not to be too critical of the players, but we had very few reliable options in the pen. Of course it is Billy's job to recruit guys that can get the job done.

While I believe the jury is still out on Jones and he has made some questionable decisions, when your pen ranks at the top of the conference in walks , wild pitches, hit batters, and at the bottom in ERA, it's more than just situational errors. We have to shore up that to be competitive next year.

UTA bats finally came alive with a 12-0, 7-3 and 7-4 sweep of UALR. Where this offense has been all year is beyond me. Could be a two-bid league had they saved some runs for other games...

AState assures at least one positive for this season, winning our only matchup this year with UCA 8-6 in 13 innings on the road...

Off to San Marcos, where we pretty much need to sweep if we plan on making the conference tourney...

We're playing better. Offense looks more capable. I doubt we sweep, but I wouldn't put 2 out of 3 out of the question. Team finally looks relaxed now that our hitting coach is gone.

The way we've been playing of late, I wouldn't rule it out either . . . Weather may be a factor in this series . . .

We've had 22 games impacted by weather this year. It's always a factor for us.

Do y'all bring the bad weather with you, or is it just an unfortunate coincidence?
