Pyramid is open again
11 years after Memphis stomped TCU, the Pyramid is alive again. It makes up for the airport no longer being what will get us into a better conference.

Just went there a few hours ago. It's going to be a success. On the observation deck, you can see the airport, east memphis and a beautiful view of the river from up there. The kids love seeing the alligators, fish and ducks and the guys love the shooting range and hot girls working there

I just hope some of those folks discover the Pinch and all the rest of Downtown, or they will miss out on a doubly good time.

This is a BIG reason why Memphis will be added to a Power Conference(Probably BIGXII) ....Once the members get wind of this HUGE BPS in Memphis.....They're going to look for reasons to visit Memphis....That will transla8 into,"Wouldn't it be nice to play a game here on the weekend and go to the Bass Pro there"?
This is a major attraction, I showed the pictures to a guy @ work here in GV & he went NUTZ!!!!!! get ready Memphus!!!!! A storm is brewing 04-bow

RE: Pyramid is open again
Instead of looking at it as a bait shop, it does look more like a themed attraction, a hunter-themed attraction. Or, interestingly (ironically?) an indoor outdoorsmen attraction. I still prefer several tenants under one roof, but as long as it attracts people to Memphis instead of siphoning Memphis revenue to Springfield, it's a good thing. RVC Outdoors is discussing a location on Mud Island, which is complementary.

I see a couple possibilities that could ripple from this.

--Outdoors -- with RVC, and Shelby Farms' improvements out east, are there more ways to 1) connect our outdoor-focused attractions synergistically? and 2) expand the improvements of outdoor recreation?

--Pinch -- With St. Jude and Bass Pro, if RVC arrives as well, is Mud Island maxed out with tenants? If not, there may be opportunities to feed into the entrepreneur infrastructure in a very unique way on Mud Island. And, with the Pinch, it begins to look like a family-friendly sort of area. Other outdoor and kid friendly places should be pursued there. I'm thinking like a more organic/less "planned" Downtown Disney. You have running trails and beautiful homes at Harbortown, maybe the RVC, but no real kids attractions like Lego/Disney stores (Legoland may be too much) for the kids of BPS customers, or kids at St. Jude to go hog wild at and spend their parents' money.

-- In the near term it looks like we'll add a second themed attraction with the beginning of improvements at Graceland, and that can feed tourism and convention marketing strategies. If the renderings ever come to fruition, and aren't merely teases, the long-term vision of Graceland is pretty cool and could finally assist that neighborhood reach its potential.

-- These attractions give opportunity for enterprising faculty and students at the U of M to explore their innovative and entrepreneurial potential, particularly in the hospitality, tech, and entertainment industries.

I'll never forget almost hitting my head on the rafters and the way the upper stands shook during a Louisville game one year.
