A spring floor is a pretty permanent item. You can technically take it apart and put it together, but it takes a lot of time and people. The uneven bars and vault typically need to be bolted to the ground, so you wouldn't want that in the middle of your basketball floor.
PNC Arena has an ice rink under their basketball floor.
An average person will walk far enough to travel around the equator 5 times in their lifetime.
I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about the difficulty of permanent fixtures as they pertain to basketball courts and that it would be to complicated for a school to share the use of the facility. I was providing an example of NC State's basketball team sharing the facility with Carolina Hurricanes ice hockey.
I'm assuming that the hurricanes don't practice there though? Also, they just take the floor out and don't have anchors and bolts sticking into the floor, which is what it would take for gymnastics. And the gymnastics equipment will stay in place all season.
My comment was basically a smart ass way of saying I don't think that is really apples to apples. Lol

And there also isn't as large of a pool of athletes to pull from as there is soccer or basketball. Those would be my guesses. You would need a dedicated facility as well as the bars, vault, and spring floor are all pretty permanently placed.

Spring floor? Seems like all the spring things are boards that are easily moved? For practice, I'm thinking... How many actual gym floors are in the whole Hanner complex? Seem like 3 or 4.
Demand? I don't know. I like watching it much more than Basketball myself. Can't turn the channel fast enough if "orange" ball is on. But the channel changer seems to stick for a bit when Gymnastics is on.
Also, I have a daughter who is into it and she want's to be an Eagle when she is older. Since she is only 6 now, I'm hoping we might bring it on board in the next 12 years or so. Till then.. guess she will have to polish up her rifle skills!

Why not Gymnastics?

The real question would be could any Sun Belt school be able to host a home meet against any SEC, Big Ten, or Pac 12 school? The ACC and Big 12 only have a few schools each who sponsor the sport, so there may be some leverage there, but aside from Oklahoma those schools typically aren't the major powers of the sport.
The next conference to sponsor gymnastics will probably be the Mountain West - Air Force, Utah State, San Jose State, and Boise State already do.

Why not Gymnastics?
I have attended a gymnastics meet at Auburn and it was very entertaining. Would love for the SBC to support it.

So far back, in fact, that I was there. It was only men's gymnastics, however, at least when I was there. Team was full of guys from Pennsylvania and New Jersey and one of the assistant coaches had been a member of Japan's Olympic team. They really stood out on campus in those days.
