Question for UTEP
When will you finally be a factor in the West?? I had so much hope for your program when we played in 2005 when I visited El Paso for our game. But it just seems like your ceiling is third in the west.

Could be this year. OL will be deep, experienced and big. Running backs will be very good and also deep. TE will be excellent. Big question is the new QB. If he is an adequate replacement, the Miners could contend this year. The defense was improved last year and will be even better this year. With so much returning after this season for the 2016 year, the Miners should be contending for the west title then but maybe this year as well.

I expect that our DC will have some major offers if the expected improvement in our defense materializes.

I don't think Kugler is counting "on a transfer who couldn't start at his previous school." I'm not certain to whom you're referring. In all likelihood, our starting QB will either be Jr Garrett Simpson or So Mack Leftwich, both of which have been UTEP Miners for several seasons.

The transfer tight end is from Texas and was a start that graduated.

I think 8-5 would be a good season for UTEP.

RE: Question for UTEP
A lot of the players that played last year are still here minus the QB. But all year long I was saying that he (Showers) couldn't make a throw longer than 15 yards accurately so his main objective was to hand off to our outstanding runners. I don't see why this next QB can't do the same thing and if he proves to be a little more than just a mediocre passer we will keep defenses on their toes. Last year every team we played was stacking the line, especially in the Kansas game. I don't care if it comes down to nepotism with the QB as long as he proves he can throw and a plus if he can run too.

Kansas State not Kansas, please, big difference. If UTEP had been clobbered by Kansas, well I don't even want to think about it.
