I wouldn't put UNLV at the bottom like that. New coach, new stuff -- they'll only get better.

Kansas at #126? Too low, too.

I wouldn't put any weight in their rankings when it comes to the lower-end of the stick.

It probably is. I don't know if these rankings carry any weight.

Lots of unknowns for CMU heading into next season. Brand new coach who hasn't been in the college scene for 20 years (and was never a head coach). Huge personnel losses with Davis, Rawls, Cherocci, Walton, etc....tough schedule too. First 6 games: Oklahoma State, Monmouth, at Syracuse, at MSU, NIU, at WMU. They'd be lucky to get out alive as they're learning a new system. Not to mention we have a bye week before the WMU-CMU game.

Let's just say I can't wait until October 10th, when the Chimps walk in to the meat grinder at Waldo. 04-cheers

Could easily be a 4-8 season for the Chips.

RE: Orlando Sentinel's Preseason College FB Countdown
With CMU new coach, and new personnel, it is going to be a rough road. But them being truly at the bottom of the Sun Belt-worthy? No. However, their record & how they perform may seem like it, even with a decent coach in his 1st year.

OKLAHOMA ST - L - Blown Out (Can't believe this is IN Mt Pleasant; Bad Year to have it)
MONMOUTH - W - CMU wins easily
@Syracuse - L - CMU gets beat easily
@MSU - L - Even if WMU doesn't prepare MSU to prepare for mid-majors well enough, MSU doesn't forget CMU. BEAT DOWN.
NIU - L - NIU wins easily. NIU *hates* CMU, with CMU breaking last two DeKalb winning streaks
@WMU - L - WMU crushes CMU. WMU takes it out on CMU like a redheaded step-child with no protection.

[CMU's mentality Drained; leans toward CMU losses in closer ones]

BUFFALO - TOSSUP - Buffalo is going thru (lesser) changes too, and this one is in Mt Pleasant
@Ball State - L - BSU had it's down/re-loading year last year. This is in Ball State. Ball State wins relatively close if CMU beats Buffalo; otherwise BSU wins handily
@Akron - L - Akron beats CMU in a close one. Bowden has Akron doing decent this year, in the running for the MAC East
TOLEDO - L - Toledo beats CMU easily
@Kent State - W - CMU pulls out a close win. It was on the road + CMU morale down
EMU - W - CMU smells win and gets it. CMU's down this year. But come on. It's the Emoos at home.

CMU *WILL GET* : 3 Wins
CMU *COULD GET* : 4 Wins
CMU *MOST LIKELY WONT BUT COULD -MAYBE- GET* : 5 Wins
CMU *IS NOT GOING TO GET, UNLESS BY URBAN-MEYER LIKE COACH* : 6 Wins
CMU *IS NOT GOING TO GET, EVEN WITH THE HELP OF GOD*: 7+ Wins

Not that we have much room to talk, but when is the last time CMU "easily" beat any of their FCS opponents?

RE: Orlando Sentinel's Preseason College FB Countdown
I have it this way, but if Rush goes down they could press Idaho for 127.

Passing game will be a lot of short stuff much like we did with Phillips and Braverman, except I don't see anyone with that kind of speed. Teams will crowd the line because they really can't stretch the field with anyone.

If you read between the lines of Bingbongs spring game assessment you can tell he's running on empty. When the best you say is,"these guys really get along well," there's probably little else he could point to regarding performances.

This guy is hamstrung by a OC from the Knute Rockne era. Until he can get his own people in place it will likely be a downward spiral. I'm convinced Enos stuck it to Heeke on purpose. It will take two years of Fleck like recruiting and another two years to develop them before they're anything more than a 5th place team.

128 Georgia State
127 Idaho
126 UTSA
125 EMU
124 KENT
123 CMU

Quote: Not that we have much room to talk, but when is the last time CMU "easily" beat any of their FCS opponents?

2014: Chatanooga - RANKED FCS (Close Game)
2013: New Hampshire - RANKED FCS (Close Game)
2012: SE Missouri St - SUB-PAR FCS (11pt win; not easy)
2011: S. Carolina St - RANKED EARLY FCS / OKAY IN END (15pt win; kinda easy/not hard; sc-st lost to Indiana by 17)
2010: Hampton - MEDIOCRE FCS (Very Easy Win; 33-0; Hampton was 5-1 after that)

Not a great track record showing off strength, that's for sure... but also tougher-than-usual FCS opponents.

COMING UP IN 2015:
MONMOUTH in 2014: 6-5 - No FBS opponents (MEDIOCRE FCS)

Yikes!
How do they have CMU below half of the MAC East and Eastern?

Also didn't realize they play Oklahoma in Mount Pleasant and get a jab at MSU either.
This is my first look at CMU's schedule.

Yeah, Oklahoma St.

Wouldn't want to play either next year though. Might be the 2 best teams in the Big 12.

Suggesting we'll finish in the 120+ range essentially means you think we're going to have 0-1 wins. I know the Haterade can be found on every corner in these parts, but thinking we're going to be that bad is tough to justify.

Thanks again.

CMU - 1 win for sure ... Kent, EMU,Buff too tough to call. Im expecting improvement in coaching, but they lose a ton of good players. Enos definitely underperformed with that talent.
