I listened to it live and now have just listened to the podcast in case I may have missed something and I must say your interpretation (of what you heard) of the interview is either a complete fabrication of what really happened or a very slanted view of what you may have wanted to happen.

I would advise you to listen yourself instead of taking someone else's word of what really happened.

It was sarcasm my friend

Sarcasm only works in an environment were the statement is accepted as absurd. This is not the place that would believe an adverse comment about Pastner would be considered absurd.

Well stated -- 04-bow

Yeah, I've gotta agree. But at least he didn't say something nice about Pastner, that really would have raised a ruckus.

If given the waiver how would it effect their housing status in relation to the other players. Would Papa have to pay for books and meals?

Keelon Sr........Sons & Schollies
What I find interesting is that if they aren't playing with a scholarship attached to their names can't they go play anywhere they want the next season without sitting a year.. I would think so.. Interesting very interesting!! To me this would be the best thing for all the Lawson's involved just in case it doesn't work out for the Kids or Coach Lawson.. Coach Lawson probably wants it this way and not for the sake of the team but for the sake of him and his kids!!

There will be no more "higher ranked players to commit."

RE: Keelon Sr........Sons & Schollies
But he's got other sons in the pipeline.

I know I'm paranoid, but this just sounds like a way to be retroactively hammered by the NCAA. Cleared, then not cleared, strict liability, that kind of thing.

Sure would clear the decks to bring in a couple of Godfrey-Hall type bangers, though.

Isn't this already part of the P5 rule changes? I think it is --- maybe not this season but the next or the year after.

Pastner has always been good at acquiring talent.

When they transfer, we will have two additional scholarships.

LOL, right.

If JP lost the Lawsons, he wouldn't wait to get fired before getting out of town.

He thinks the heat is bad now, lol.

On a less sinister note -- since LOIs aren't going to be a factor any longer, at least here, *if* the Lawsons do play for Memphis without using schollies I really don't see anything but upside. And since this was mentioned as a possibility by Coach Lawson -- you know it's being considered. 04-cheers

I'm not sure why Josh is mentioning the 40-0 in the first place, I have a greater chance of waking up sandwiched between Kate Upton and a dinosaur that he does of going 40-0.. so why mention it. Furthermore it's ridiculous to imply that we would complain about it.

Okay, but if the day comes when Pastner leaves and for some reason Lawson goes too, don't expect the kids to stick around.

Sure - but being on scholarship isn't going to prevent a transfer once the new 'transfer rule' takes effect. So using a scholarship serves no purpose here but to use up a scholarship that might be needed elsewhere. This, of course, is all contingent on the Lawsons willingness and the promise of this new rule ---

When, or if, that happens, sure, it changes everything. I can only count on the rules in effect now.

Keelon is making 200-250k a year? It would still be a big chunk to pay for his kids to play here. I don't see it

I don't think It would be that much. He is starting with in state tuition and it used to be at least that university employees got half price for thier immediate family (don't know if that has changed). Still a relatively small number compared to the average family and I bet some business in Memphis will find a reason to have him come in as a "consultant" or will support his summer basketball camp to make up the difference if needed.

Tuition at Memphis is not that high. If he can't make it out of $250K a year, there are other problems with his finances.
