The FBA meetings are this week to re-certify bowl games and get the bowl schedule together. Most of the schedule was set last Friday before the meetings began but there are a couple bowls waiting to be slotted for TV purposes (Las Vegas, Insight and International).

the 04-07 period is for autobid eligibility for 08 and 09. The 06-09 period will be for 10 and 11, in theory.

nothing will change for now... the BE is locked in... The ACC will be kind of on the edge.. and no non BCS league is very close now.

Nothing will change. The ACC will not lose its automatic access and things will stay as they are.
The extra BCS Bowl has quieted down the non automatic leagues and as long as one of the teams of those leagues gets in every other year things will remain quiet.
The interesting thing is that now the most important thing for a team of a non automatic league is to finish undefeated.

The ACC is far and away the BCS league that's closest to pushing it regarding autobids. It doesn't matter however, because any league that is locked in to a specific BCS Bowl (when their league champ is not in the title game) does not even have to "qualify" for a BCS auto-bid. The ACC is exempt due to their Orange Bowl lock-in deal.

Well the Big East doesnt have to worry about it. So its bsically a rule that keeps the status quo and makes it almost impossible for the nonBCS leagues to get the automatic access

There's nothing earth-shattering on the BCS plate this time. All the bowls have been approved. None of the BCS conferences is in danger of losing an auto-bid based on the new criteria. The BIGEAST has proven its worth, and the ACC is well situated as a 12-team mega-conference.

If the Florida proposal to create a national championship tournament (no matter how small) gains any steam, things will heat up.

The thing that many fans ignore is that when UF calls for a playoff, it is not clamoring for entry for all.
They want something like the current system where the FOUR big bowls winners would dvance to a semis and finals. That system would be even more restrictive as to who gets there and the chances of a nonBCS chamion getting in would be even tougher because now you will go back to EIGHT BCS Bowl slots determining the champion rather than the new 10 team BCS Bowl teams.
So there would be TWO less teams playing in those bowls.

Only the Big East has the possibility of losing BCS auto-bid. Unless we split then it would be given to the former BEFB league which earned. All the conference that have tie-in with anyone of BCS bowl will never lose their auto-bid. The question will they add another conference or stay with 6 major conferences? Another big question would be, will they go with Plus-one. How much money is FOX willing to pay for the Plus-one? I think they likely to cap at 6 conferences for BCS auto-bid? The fact that non-BCS can still accessing BCS doesn

Actually all 6 BCS conferences. TV markets also keep conferences in the BCS. Thus the Big East's TV markets make up for the lack of an automatic tie-in to a BCS bowl. Also, it's not out of the question that the Big East could cut a deal with a BCS bowl for partial affiliation thus keeping them in the BCS. I thought for sure the Orange Bowl would do that. But that possibility and the Big East's markets keep it an automatic lock in the BCS.
