OT: It is named what?
So Georgia State is playing USA this weekend. I was reading the preview and saw they are playing at Stanky Field. I had to take a double take. They named it what? Which led me to reading reading up on Eddie Stanky, very cool player turned coach that played with Jackie Robinson. He had a very successful career as a coach at USA, but still it is a name that if you are not accustomed to that you will take a double take when you hear it.
Just like the Butts-Mehre building at UGA. I swear they are saying butt smear every time 680 the Fan has their Bulldog Roundtable on. Every person from UGA pronounces I've heard say it pronounces it butt smear.
It is the off-off season(shooty hoops and pigskin). So it got me thinking. Do you guys have any buildings on campus you had to take a double take when you went to class or maybe heard from someone at another school? Might be a little juvenile, but hey, reading all these threads, we can all qualify for that at times.

Eddie Stanky was quite the man. I'm impressed you researched the meaning behind the name of the Stadium. Hopefully one day you can give ol' Stanky Field a visit.

Me too. I like Mobile. Is there a nickname for it? Like Turner Field is called "The Ted."

If you follow that same path, you've got "The Stank"

"The STANK". . . . I'd Guess. . . . . Though admittedly IDK. . . . .

Cajunman quicker to the draw, well played, Sir . . . . .

It is colloquially referred to as The Stank. Good job!

None of our athletic facilities are named after anyone, except Strahan; which is a multi purpose facility. Other than that the closest we have is Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium. I didn't go to TXST so if any buildings have weird names I can't tell you. Guys?

One thing about Strahan is that it is not supposed to be pronounced Stray-han, like Michael Strahan. It's supposed to be pronounced as Stran.

At least that's what my orientation leader said. I think most people, myself included, pronounce it Stray-han anyway. Probably because people are familiar with Michael Strahan.

Hank Aaron Stadium, home of the Mobile BayBears of the Double-A Southern League, is nicknamed, "The Hank". So feel free to call Stanky Field, "The Stank".

We have Peacock Lot and Peacock Lot, which we call the **** Lot. It use to be Raley Hall/Lot but was renamed last year.

Baseball stadium is Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium. We just call it the Beav and talk about Protecting the Beav.

dag gummit, there's no 'H' in the name. It's "the Wack." Used to have promotional FB games with tee shirts that said "Pack the Wack!"

Much respect to E. A. Diddle and his fantastic career, but I've always gotten a little smile out of WKU's Diddle Arena.

The only thing on the Georgia Southern campus that I can think of is the new Football Operations Center or the "FOC" because when you say "let's go to the FOC" it sounds like you're saying "Let's go to F***" which is probably what most students are saying anyway.
