Do we count taxes as donations for Navy? Cause if so, they win.

I'm guessing ECU didn't include the 10k Student Pirate Club members as donors.

^^ That certainly explains the shift. From reading around the web, ECU's student athletics fee doesn't appear to be mandatory. Is that correct?

No, it is, but the student athletic fee and the student pirate club are separate. Students pay to be in the Student Pirate Club through a membership fee.

How much is membership? Just curious.

RE: Donation Comparisons
$50(the past few years at least)

Typically you get a shirt and some stickers. Also you have first rights into any game. You don't have to keep actual game day ticket. They give you a card to scan to enter the stadium.

For big games like UNC this past year students in the SPC(student pirate club) did not have to wait in line for tickets. They just show up on game day with the card and enter the stadium and sit in the Boneyard section of the stadium. If you do not pay the fee and enter the SPC you have to wait in line sometime that week and purchase a ticket.

RE: Donation Comparisons
ECU does an excellent job of getting freshmen into the Student Pirate Club, but it has proven difficult to transition the student population into the actual Pirate Club. Find a way to that and we're on to something....

Also, those numbers are several years old, ECU is around the 9 million mark now.

op's graphs: the "annual fund" is going to be the "unrestricted donation" number that's in the ^^^^ link/page 11.

the other columns in the link/page 11 are the donations which come with "strings attached".

RE: Donation Comparisons
Yeah Houston has all sorts of sport specific donor clubs that are NOT included in the $4.5M.

The $4.5M is unrestricted only.

RE: Donation Comparisons
With the ECU alumni base that we have there is no reason we should not have 10K + active Pirate Club members not counting the Student Pirate Club. The Pirate Club just needs new blood desperately that has a sales and marketing IQ higher than fence post but the good ole rich boys want to keep it just like it is. It is a fine line to walk not to piss them off but the Pirate Club needs a new vision to catch up with the times and become more attractive to students that graduated the last 10-15yrs.

ECU +.2 million / -10,000 donors (???)

The 8.3 mil number for SMU in 2013 included both restricted and unrestricted donations, while the 3.3 mil in 2014 is only unrestricted donations. Unrestricted donations in 2013 totaled 3.0 mil, for a change of +0.3 mil.

When including restricted donations, SMU went from 8.3 mil in 2013 to approximately 11 mil in 2014.

With required Mustang Club donations for basketball tickets being increased exponentially next year, expect unrestricted donations to grow quite a bit at SMU when 2015 numbers are released.

How's that going over? I assume you raised prices when the new arena opened. Now raising them again? Exponentially?

Prices have gone up each of the last three years. My required donation went up four-fold for renewing my tickets for next year.

All in all, it seems to be going over fairly well, not too many complaints. But that may be because the school did back off from an original plan that would have reseated the entire arena

We have to get money wherever we can and luckily people are willing to pay for basketball

To get basketball seats you also have to be a football season ticket holder. I went from no donation to $500 a seat while my friends on the floor went from $5,000 a seat to $15,000
