Michigan hosting football camp in Florida... on USF campus???

True...but every team in the SEC, ACC and much of the Big Ten also recruits in FLA so Michigan (Penn State has "guest" camps in NJ, Georgia, FLA too) has a ton of competition for these guys...and spending a day in a camp might give Big Blue an inside edge...hence why they do it.
Not sure about the ACC rule is..but the SEC has a rule their coaches can't not attend "guest camps"....hence why the SEC Coaches in particular hate that Penn State and Michigan are able to attend camps in their backyard...while SEC Coaches can't do that. (Imagine is Saban was able to attend/host a camp in talent rich Texas, Ohio, California, Pennsylvania, etc...it would be a rock show).
USF's advantage obviously is that more players will probably show up for their camp just because Harbaugh and UM Coaches will be there...vs if USF held their normal camp like everyone else.
and the other upside is that you know Harbaugh is going to help out his best friend by telling some of the recruits (that he doesnt want) that they should go play for Taggart.
Its a very smart move by Taggart to immediately tap into Harbaughs popularity. They send out invites to a ton of players and say that they can come to USF and meet with the Michigan coaching staff and then Harbaugh gets to take his pick of the litter, and then give a little push to those that Taggart wants.
Think about what you're saying, usf doesn't need Harbaugh to second hand sell usf. All of those things you list off when we're having a ucf/usf pissing contest, those are selling points that usf has to offer. Despite being in two other university towns usf is the only university that is proffering its facilities. Usf has its own merits and doesn't need Michigan for people to realize that, if you do your program is very big trouble.
Once again you miss the point we are trying to make.
1. Those kids that are set on going to Michigan will be going there regardless of wether this camp happens or not.
2. Those kids that WT has sold USF and visited USF and are sold on it. That's not the group coming to this event.
3. The kids that are considering Michigan but have shown little interest in USF and have not visited USF. Will now be coming to our campus and give away another shot at selling them on what USF has. These kids probably wouldn't have seen USF otherwise. Plus Michigan will NOT be offering and taking everyone in this camp so it allows USF to sell itself to them.
Wether you want to admit or not the facts are that the Michigan name would attract recruits to both USF and UCF campus that might not had visited in the first place.
Seems like a situation where you get invited on a date with a hot girl and then you show up and she's not interested in you and you get stuck talking to her much uglier friend all night. usf hoping for the classic bait and switch. Solid plan LOL

The funny part is the upset UCF fans.
How does this affect you?

Doesn't affect me. usf is doing something stupid so I'm gonna take the opportunity to point that out and give y'all a hard time about it while i try to forget about what is going on with our tanking baseball team.

Why can't usf just hold their own camp? Why do they need to piggyback off of Harbaugh? I just don't understand how the usf fans are pissed about this. Remember those kids aren't there for usf or even their facilities, they're there for the purpose of being evaluated by Michigan.
They are conducting their own camp. Michigan coaches are guests. That is the loophole. Much ado about nothing. The only ones who should be upset are Florida and Florida State.

Basically what we have been saying, that those camps have NOT changed the school's recruiting patterns in the areas where they were held

It's just an article quoting Nick Saban, of all people, on why this shouldn't be as big as people are making it. He's only posting the link because Georgia Southern also did this and is trying to defend their decision to do so since there are fans going after USF for doing it. Just a fan protecting his school's image. I don't blame the kid.

RE: Michigan hosting football camp in Florida... on USF campus???
Granted this isn't from an AAC school's fan but when Larry Fedora was at Southern Miss (2008-11) we/he had camps like this at schools in the state of Alabama for sure and possibly Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana too. I am not sure of the exact schools that hosted but I want to say they were at FCS schools in these states. Granted what Michigan is doing is going to FBS schools so this isn't a step down but it's not unheard of. He (Fedora) also had 1 day camps at 5 different locations within Mississippi as his philosophy was to take the camps to the recruits instead of the recruits having to travel to us. In a way it's the same way he did spring football scrimmages while at USM (and now at UNC) where he has scrimmages in different parts of the state so that fans of those areas have a chance to see the scrimmages
