ECUGrad,
What don't you like about Raleigh? I ask because my wife is in biotech and if at some point we want a change from Boston, our options are limited to Raleigh, Seattle, San Francisco, and San Diego.

I would offer a dissenting view point to ECUGrad. I moved to Raleigh (technically south Durham) two years ago and have really enjoyed it. There is significant growth and with that comes an exciting and vibrant community. There is a lot going on seemingly all the time. Its a very "outdoorsy" area. Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill are connected by 28 miles of greenway. There are numerous parks and lakes. There is triple-A baseball in Durham, performing arts in Durham and Raleigh, Hurricanes hockey, minor league soccer, and multiple areas that host concerts.
Full disclosure, I spend more time downtown Durham and honestly prefer Durham, its less busy than Raleigh.

If these are your options, you should really just drop Raleigh off the list. The other three are exponentially better.

It's only 32 miles to DC.
I live here. 32 miles in DC is 2 hours away.
