I can't believe that such a ridiculous topic, started by a well-known loony, is still going.

Amazing.

Would Houston black ball Rice to the AAC. Pluses for Rice top 20 academic university in the nation, mega endowment, beautiful campus, excellent top athletic facilities and top alumni. Negative in same city with the University of Houston and duplicating markets. I would take them in as a Tulane alumni because of their academic quality.

I wonder if you're going for the most negative rep points ever record.

We may need to help him with it... I hardly ever hand them out but hes pushing his luck.

We need Rice just about as much as we need Umass or Marshall. I think the day we add any of those three, is the moment I will realize that we have totally given up hope of being taken seriously at all.

why yes….yes they would. Not because they are in Houston, but because they add nothing of value to anyone or anything that matters.

Great academic university. When Chess draws 50k then by all means lets let them in.

Agreed. They have a niche market in Houston and wouldn't take anything away from UH. They don't add as much as say a UCF or Uconn, but they probably add more than anything else out there.

I could refute a few of these statements but lets focus on one major problem a small school like Rice will always have.

51,961 Living Alumni (as of 2011)
6,621 Current Students (as of 2014)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rice_University

Even if every student and living alumnus of Rice went to a game they still would have trouble filling their own downsized football stadium.

That's why I say we need no more private schools. Any adds from here on need to be large enrollment state schools. Those are the schools with the highest potential ceilings.

Both you two are extremely funny 03-lmfao

Here's an idea;

Rice should tear all their athletic facilities down and let the city of Houston Zoo expand their.

Look at the few posters who actually gave him positive rep points. That pretty much says it all.

Not sure why Marshall is included in the same tone as UMASS.

Also not sure why a USF fan is turning his nose up to Marshall when it comes to football.

I think its safe to say that Marshall has a much better football history and program than USF.

Nothing personal, but you don't have to understand, this is the AAC board. If you want to tout the awesomeness of either Marshall, their history, or their conference, that belongs on the cUSA board.

Marshall won jack in CUSA until all the best teams left. Now Marshall's winning against some of the weakest schedules in the country and you want to puff up your chest about it? You'd be a doormat again in the AAC.

It was the worst in the country and I think this year's is bottom, it's a total embarrassment.

We really need a team that didn't have a single game with attendance over 20k last year. God knows UH shouldn't talk attendance smack, but UH is back on their schedule again so they should have at least one game in the future above that thanks to Cougar fans that will attend.
