Chimps, it's just sad to watch the fall
So I'm reading some Slappy's take on a Rivals article about our recruiting class.

The Slappy conveniently omits that we have 5 three stars verballed and focuses on the last line in the article which says "11 are not rated." implying, they're not rated so they can't be good.

1. They are not yet rated ON RIVALS.

2. They are rated on Scout and 247. I believe 9 of them have three stars.

3. Rival analysts generally don't rate until after the June camps and combines as well as after analyzing video.

4. The article he cited was about Amir Watts. Watts was Bingbongs first offer. Head to head, just another donut for the program heading in the toilet.

5. Watts has multiple offers as do most of the current recruits. In my book, the number of offers and quality of offers is the most revealing evaluation. CMU has 2 verbals, no stars, and only one with an offer............from Ferris. 04-rock

Relax, why worry about them, let them have some fun in their own minds. We know that there is no curse they can rely upon. I'm enjoying where we are at and where we are going.

Remember how they loved to "rewrite" history all of the time.

Always proud to be a Bronco, RTB.

According to BW they may have another commit. This is very similar to last year when Fleck had a bunch of early MI verbals, Enos went into a panic, and proceeded to offer and take verbals from a bunch of players with GLIAC offers.

It's no longer about quality recruits with the Slappies, they just want to keep up with Fleck. Maybe the Hare will get tired and the Turtle can catch up.

The head to head match up this fall will be all they need to know about the talent level WMU has vs cmu I anticipate that WMU will beat them badly on their own turf. The chimps will realize there will be more where that came from like 4-5 years more potential domination by the BRONCOS. Bono is gonna be signing You Got Me Babe before all is said and done! Go Broncos

I believe 24/7 has us with 12 three star kids.. Minus 1 for Ohio kid decommitting. Check it out....the chips are somewhere below 94th.

Wisconsin is #52 and MSU#56. Might be a little early in the game to draw any conclusions.

Seriously, you should read this thread. It's dripping with jealousy, and knee deep in a blind belief that because they had a short run of success in the last 25 years, that it will all somehow magically turn around and that blip in time will be the norm.

They have a new Oline, new running back, new WRs, new LBers, new DBs. Their Dline is the only thing that is marginally intact, and even that hasn't an ounce of depth.

The Morning Sun did an update from their Saturday scrimmage

If what occurred on offense during the final tune-up scrimmage happens again next weekend, first-year CMU head coach John Bonamego might have a conniption.

The Chippewas were called a number of times for illegal procedure penalties or other pre-snap issues Saturday, making it difficult to establish any sort of rhythm on that side of the ball.

“We never really got into a rhythm. A lot of that was self-inflicted errors. We made way, way too many pre-snap penalties. Even one of those is too much, but I know we had two explosive gains and a touchdown called back because of penalties. You can’t play winning football that way.

The longest gain of the day, a 30-plus yard scamper by junior running back Martez Walker, was also nullified by a penalty.

Central Michigan’s Spring Game is slated for a 1 p.m. start Saturday, April 25, at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Bonamego is hoping the penalty-fest that the scrimmage turned into will not be indicative of what will happen when plenty more people are in the stands for the Spring Game.

We also have a bye week to prepare. They have to face NIU the week before us.

For a school who hasn't won a MAC title since 1988 (27 years--before any current WMU undergrads were born) we sure talk a lot of smack 01-wingedeagle

It's not smack and their thread has nothing to do with resting on past laurels. It's a delusional assessment of the here and now.

But when one of their own pointed out that Fleck is leaving them in the dust they used your same point. "Yeah we stink, but we were once champions."

Heck, we won the MAC last year in hoops, but it didn't soothe our disappointment in this year.

Bingbong has a new strategy. He's out offering high major P5 guys for 2017. He's got two guys verballed for 2016 and now he's working on 2017? I think recruiting may not be in this guys wheelhouse, but maybe he's a great coaching mind.

He may get one of the 2017 recruits. He's an athlete at Mt. Pleasant High. But then so is Kaleb Perry. His dad is also a position coach for the Chimps. He might get this one 03-lmfao

Hey Rocketman,

You must be an idiot to think any one on this board thinks were going to be any where near the top 20 later in the year....geez.......
The fun in this is much more related to what other schools are doing or not doing at this point in the year...
I'll also make a bet that no MAC schools have been near the top 20 for this long early in the year......ever.
This success does not appear to be a one or two year recruiting aberration for Fleck...We are on a three year roll at the top of MAC recruiting......[/u]

I would add I believe if a MAC school builds to the point they have over 50% of the 2 deep (starters are primarily 3 star athletes), they are going to be dominant.

I think we have several positions now that are 2 deep at that level.

This was my main impression at the spring game. Players are bigger, taller, faster, more athletic, deeper. Ask any cook, better ingredients, better outcomes.

Dominant >50%? No! For example, all 5 of Toledo's QB's were rated 3 stars by one or more services. It means little.

Do you happen to know how many 3+ star players are in Toledo two-deep? I'm betting maybe <30%. Are you saying if that were >50% it would mean little to the Rockets? Can't imagine taking that stance.
