When you play in the MAC, in order to be drafted you only get a few chances in your career to make a "name", when you play a "big"/"major" school...and it helps if your team beats that opponent in addition to you playing well, individually. Mancz didn't get many of those opportunities. The injury after the season was probably just the final straw. Hope he & the others do well in camp.

Yeah, no one was projecting him as a draft pick. The one or two blurbs I found on him indicates that the thought is he isn't agile enough for the NFL.

Chase pulled his whatever to go the NFL. Wants to pursue his career and major. Football is in his past and moving forward he will do. Best o luck to that large man.

I saw a article where he graded out in the top 10 of every category for lineman. top 2 or 3 sometimes. If memory serves. Would have to search for it.

I believe one of the NIU fans posted a link to that assessment.

It went by starts, height, and weight. Nothing that meant much as far as skill on a large scale. No large ranking systema had Nelson on the first page for getting drafted. His size may have landed him on a team with potential to make a practice squad to give Dlines fits... Other than that Nelson probably made the right move. Lots of work for a very little chance to make it. Plus all of the injuries that players are going through.

I honestly didn't even know who Chase Nelson was. It can be hard to stand out on the offensive line to an average fan.
But this article said he had some good pass protection and run blocking numbers.
Didn't say he was a potential draft selection really.
