Basketball signing period
Southern Miss has signed four since the Spring signing period opened on the 15th. How's everyone else in the conference looking?

RE: Basketball signing period
UTEP has added Josh McSwiggan from England

Josh McSwiggan, a 6-7, 200-pound forward/guard and a member of the Great Britain National Team, has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at UTEP and will join the Miners as a freshman for the 2015-16 season. McSwiggan is currently playing for Charnwood College in Loughborough, Leicestershire. He is averaging 19.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, two assists, 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks in the EABL (Elite Academy Basketball League). He is shooting 55 percent from the field and 79 percent from the line. As recently as March 19, McSwiggan had a 33-point, 17-rebound, five steal game.

I don't think UTEP is done yet but Josh is the only one to sign so far.

RE: Basketball signing period
hard to find freshman that want to come in and sit behind 6 sophomores especially when they won't know what conference we'll be playing in next year.

we have signed one in the fall signing period, but he's been committed for over a year as a JUCO JR. He grew up basically 3 miles from the city of Birmingham.

I see your point Dracorex, but guys that are afraid of having to sit aren't the guys you're looking for anyway. Of course, there is no loyalty in college basketball anymore it seems... it's me, me, me with the players. Of course, everybody loves a winner, so you've got that going for you.

I see you added another juco commit Raheem Watts. I think Southern Miss still has two scholarships to fill. Any thought of putting Carey on scholarship for his senior season? Would be a great story.

Charlotte finally gets a commit:

http://sports.yahoo.com/uga/basketball/r...vis-120943

Next, Price needs to get at least one of Woods, Dorn, or Izundu to stick with the program.

I saw Izundu is visiting Knoxville soon. I hope recommits but that's some stiff competition.

The coach that recruited him ended up on Tenn's staff.

He said he is still interested in Charlotte, but wants to get to know the new coaching staff. The only thing really in our favor at this point is he is close to his family. They are immigrants from Nigeria and he referenced his family being able to come to his games as important in the past. We also have another player with Nigerian parents on the team, Braxton Ogbueze. I'm sure the Nigerian community here isn't large, so their families probably know each other.

If we can get some other guys in here, I think Dorn may stay. He initially said he was excited to play for Price, but when all the other guys bailed, he requested his release as well. I guess he just didn't want to go down with the ship.

Mark Price grabs his second commit. Curran Scott from Oklahoma. 3 star on Rivals with offers from Tulsa and UTEP (among many others, those were just the most notable 2):

http://sports.yahoo.com/uga/basketball/r...ott-164218

Had some interest from some big programs, but no offers that I can find.

I wish our coach hit the recruiting trail like that. We have 2 kids in WV right now with multiple p5 offers who our coaches refuse to offer but will offer kids with no offers and expect to compete

Rice got a commitment the other day from Amir Smith, a 6-6 small forward from Missouri City, TX. He's a bit of a project (late bloomer) but still may be growing. And he has very good genes as his dad is Joe Smith, the #1 overall draft pick in the 1995 NBA Draft.

And a native of Norfolk.

Someday we will figure out how to keep our blue-chip talent at home.

Marshall signed JuCo Forward Terrence Thompson. Thompson signed with Charlotte out of HS but was gone after the 1st semester and never played a game for the 49ers. Thompson will have 3 years of eligibility left.

Terrence Thompson

I think he may have been a walk-on at Charlotte. One day he was there and the next he was gone.
