Lets face it, UT business is being done there every day as the President is always working and there will be a lot of events there that bring in far more money then this will cost.

I don't see how you could hold "events" there, not of the type that word conjures in my mind. Certainly not without a lot of complaint from neighbors. Almost no street parking, little turnaround parking. That angular lot doesn't give a big outdoor space.
I think it's more of a "get together" kind of a place than an event place. Cozy couples. It's too bad there wasn't something on the other side of the road with all that forest space backing.

I've been to parties in Ottawa Hills where people just parked on the street. Now if you did that all of the time I don't know if that would be a problem. I'm sure they checked with the police department before the purchase.

They probably know what kind of parties the previous owners held there. That would give idea what is doable and what is a stretch. It does seem a small lot, especially the usable space.

But the school system is less desirable....

Old farts with money do like to golf. Further from the water plant and not THAT far away. I'd have probably tried better to keep that parking lot out of view of my front windows and not sure what is going on with that driveway?
I think BG gets the win here. There's really nothing special about THAT Ottawa Hills location. No nice view. No space for large gatherings. Not near a club. No privacy.... As I wrote in my original post, I think this has as much to do with the name of the former owners. The people that did the remodel have strong UT connections also.
If the former residence gets sold for a decent value, it's not a huge loss. But, houses in that price range in OH are not jumping off the shelf. Get more for the money in outlying districts with just as good a school system and same access to private schools if that's the chosen route. This house was on the market barely over a month? It was a sweetheart deal maybe?

Chuck and Cindy Dana did a lot of hosting gatherings at that home.

I'm sure they'll fit the "event" to whatever is suitable. Time will tell. Done deal.
I'm just saying, I think BG had the better plan on this one. Their house looks better placed and designed for the over 100 people type events, particularly outdoor. Cocktail-dinner party and out of town guests, I suppose they are both equal. Probably doesn't even matter. I mean, how many parties do college presidents even throw?

If I can recall correctly that UT has quite a few parking lots a mile or so away and owns some buses to get the people back and forth.....

Need to get that contract finalized and get moving. Student recruiting is job one I'd imagine?

Looks like a new faculty contract will be presented by the BOT, maybe Monday, after four years with no contract. It would totally unfair for the new president to be faced with this problem as she begins her new position.

I'd think there would be a valet.

That bend in the driveway will make the tractor pulls difficult.

Looks like the new neighborhood should be prime for fundraising.
