If 2-3 of those 4 teams finish the season ranked, then maybe. It's a tough road for any of our teams to make the CFP, but it's not impossible. All it takes is one of those crazy years like 2007 where there were no undefeated teams and only 2 P5 teams with 1 loss. Consider the final 2007 BCS rankings:

1. Ohio State (11-1)
2. LSU (11-2)
3. Virginia Tech (11-2)
4. Oklahoma (11-2)
5. Georgia (10-2)
6. Missouri (11-2)
7. USC (10-2)
8. Kansas (11-1)
9. West Virginia (10-2)
10. Hawaii (12-0)

I think that's the kind of scenario where a 13-0 AAC champion could bust into the CFP IF they managed to beat at least 2-3 ranked teams and 2 P5 teams in the regular season.

ECU will have their best defense ever and go undefeated not because of their potent offense but goal line stands against BYU, VT, UCF and in the conference championship game. Also Ashley Judd, frustrated by years of UK football failure becomes an honorary Pirate and leads the cheers at all home games.

Best ECU defense ever? You're not exactly setting the bar high 05-stirthepot

It will rank 1st in the nation in pass defense and top 10 in all defensive categories. The kicking game will also excel. You heard it here first. I have excellent inside sources!

RE: The 2015 Homer Football Projection
Hmm. For a homer prediction, I'm going to say 8-4.

IF this happens, it will be because a lot of people are on the hot seat right now. CJ is feeling a bit of real pressure to win right now, and the AD is also being publicly flamed every other week. Both men need a winning season to shut up critics and to attempt to build a fanbase that can fill Yulman.

Duke, L
GT, L
Maine, W
- BYE -
UCF, W (upset)
Temple, W
Houston, L (revenge from last season)
Navy, W (upset)
Memphis, L
UConn, W
Army, W
SMU, W
Tulsa, W

The schedule starts out hard and then finishes a little smoother. I would have liked to start out easy and get 2-3 wins to build confidence - but oh well.

If CJ has another bad season he's gone. The AD needs to do something to save his own ego (he's not getting fired).

What a short memory you have, 2008, 2009, ring a bell? Of course 1999 would mean nothing to you either.

Zombie Blaik digs his way out of the ground, Army goes 14-0, wins a national championship and they accept my brother into the Academy.

With how many young unproven players we will have on defense 8-4 would be the most optimistic I could be. We are going to look completely different on the offensive end, but our defense is still a huge concern. I think anything 6-6 or better would be considered a success. Next years expectations will be a lot higher.

Florida is rebuilding, VaTech is no longer a power, and you would only get respect for beating BYU/UCF if they had stellar seasons.

So no.

I like how people are underestimating Tulsa. That makes the Hurricane the hunter and not one of those with the target on on their chest. Eight wins would be huge considering the number of young players Tulsa has and the small number of wins the Blankenship staff just pulled out. Seven to eight wins is a good place to start for this team.

We're not underestimating Tulsa. You've had losing seasons the past 2 years, are welcoming in an entirely new coaching staff with a new offensive style. There's no reason to think Tulsa should be successful this year, and that's a perfectly reasonable assumption.

ECU goes 14-0, Ruff makes national headlines by turning down the New England Patriots coaching job, as it is a step down. Gwen Stefani marries me, a UFO piloted by Elvis Presley vaporizes ESPN headquarters, and the UNC board of trustees is sentenced to 75 years of hard labor in the salt mines...

...but I'll settle for 8-4.

3-9 to 5-7 will be the final result. An opening night home blowout loss to Duke will kill any energy for 2015. I can't believe ESPN actually WANTED that game for primetime - it will make the AAC look weaker than it really is.

Gotta love our fans.
On the other hand, TU will play good defense this year, like we did last year. We weren't pushed around last year. What killed us last year was bad QBing and terrible special teams. Both may persist; they may improve. We'll see.
And Duke won't blow us out.

+1000 We're thin up front defensively. If we stay healthy we'll be good. If we don't, it'll be a clown show...

It's not the offense I'm worried about. Keevan Lucas is the best returning WR in the AAC. We have a serviceable and still developing QB with a host good WR's and a couple serviceable RB's. Our O-line in basically all back.

BUT the defense has the possibility of being worse than the terrible one from last year as it's a new system, philosophy, and a new DB corps.

I'm saying 4-6 wins is realistic. Anything more is gravy. Anything less is piss poor for the talent that's in place and the offensive system.

Agree that 4-6 is realistic like Invisiblehand pointed out with the talent in place, what I really meant was if the team overachieves this coming season then 7-8 wins is possible. We will just need a bit of help from the teams we play since the defense is so unformed yet. Believe the offense has the potential to overachieve.

Now post your unrealistic expectations and I want at least three Memphis fans predicting P5 invites before the 3rd page ....

You failed to understand... 6-6 WAS my homer prediction.

Ok being total homerish... I say USF wins against Florida A&M, Syracuse, UConn, SMU, Navy (no, seriously, I think they are overrated)Temple and UCF (just cause our games recently have been rather close and you never know)

USF goes 7-5 and plays in the St. Pete (to be named) Bowl.

My fear is that we lose to Temple and UCF which lands us at 5-7 and possibly lose Taggart.
