Actually you would be incorrect, I was around for the 98 season. I was in high school but I am second generation Green Wave so I was at all the games. We have an undefeated season and you do not. We are in a far, far, far, better conference and you are not. We have academics and you do not. We have a market and you do not. More people recognize Tulane then they do Southern Miss. I would take Ramsey and Losman over Favre and Collier anyday and I dare say a lot more people would agree with me. We are a national athletic brand with all the resources to compete on a high level and your athletic department is having to sell off their assets just to buy a whirlpool for the basketball team. Face it, we are better in every aspect, we won.
Your far better conference was ranked behind CUSA last football season

CUSA needs USM to be good, very good. I'll never slam USM. I respect the school and program. USM has more than earned its stripes over the years.

How many consecutive winning seasons has Tulane had?

We've got a lot of holes that still need to be filled. Unless we improve greatly at offensive line and linebacker the ceiling for this team will remain relatively low. Not to mention if there are any games that are coached like the UTSA game last year, that also won't help.

Southern Miss has the respect and love by each and every Marshall fan. We WANT YOU to get your s*** together.
Also I would put Austin Davis over Collier, Losman, and Ramsey.
Plus it shows his age when he doesn't even list the QB from their only good season in program history

Ouch! That is not a real encouraging assessment.

Many Southern Miss fans would take Reggie Collier as a college QB over Brett Favre, and definitely the rest of those QBs listed. Collier was the first QB ever to run and pass for over 1,000 yards in a season. He was a lanky 6'4 with a rocket arm, and ran like a deer. Bear Bryant said that Collier was the best football player he ever coached against. He was Mike Vick before anybody knew what to do with a talent like Mike Vick.

As a longtime Southern Miss fan, I am cautiously optimistic. I think Zac Woodfin and better depth will help make Southern Miss a more competitive team this year.
As sad as it is to say, the team improved tremendously from 2013 to 2014. In 2013, most games were over by the midway thru the 2nd quarter if not sooner. Last year, the team was competitive in most games (although they did struggle during the 2nd half of the season once injuries took a toll), and will continue to get better this year. I'm expecting between 5-7 wins in 2015.

I do believe that most C-USA fans want USM to be one of the elite teams in the league. We will be better as a conference when you get back to where you belong.

Apparently you began following college football in 2011.
Finished #13 in the country in 1999
Finished #19 in the country in 1997
Finished #20 in the country in 2011
Among other really good seasons featuring wins over Alabama, Florida State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Nebraska, etc.

Happened at Memphis during year 1 & 2 of Justin Fuente's tenure.
During year 2...we had a very good team...and after we were shafted by refs calls during some games with Louisville and UCF...they just shut down for the rest of the year.
The cure for that was recruiting...and coaching.
It can change for USM....even if it takes a bit longer.
USM has been hampered with bad finances lately...so it may take a bit longer to recover than it did for us.
I have faith and hope that the Eagles will make it back sooner than later.
We've been hampered by a severe lack of leadership. I'm not necessarily including anyone currently on staff in that.
This year may not be make-or-break for Monken, but it will be for my perception of him.
^^Example of why we have been hampered for decades by dumb*** fans
The "dumbasses" in our fan base are the people who excuse poor performance from people who happen to be "one of us". I've never been guilty of that.
If you're calling me a dumb*** because I'm pessimistic about the 2015 football season, or about Todd Monken's competence, well, that's just stupid.

USM doesn't have academics?
Also, anyone who'd take those two no-names over Favre or Collier is an idiot.

I am trying to recall a single time that you have not been pessimistic about anything. Even in 2011 with football.

I have faith in Monken as long as he never again coaches a game like he did against UTSA last year. One of the most incompetently coached games I've ever seen. But I imagine he's learned that lesson.
