I got to see Big Jack in person the first year English Turn was open in nola.

When he and Greg Norman hit the ball it made a totally different sound than the other guys.

...have posted before but is worth repeating....

was standing next to Steve (his son) at the 19th hole at HCC when Jack buried the putt on 17 in '86.....was the most unusual and improbable of circumstances in my life......easily the coolest of 'em all....and I hung with Brett and a couple others in the stupors o'day.....

it's my favorite story.....tops all Cards WS wins, any glorified 'night after' stories, etc....it's just one that happened based on circumstances and hope I don't forget when the alzheimers finally kicks into high gear... 03-wink

the masters is easily like none other (event) in my mind...

RE: OT: The Masters
I have to go gay tiger with this one....

him playing in the par 3 today with his kids and recognizing humility......his swing looks as good as ever....

if his putting and short game can overcome his 'brain farts' over the last 5 or so years, that swing can get him to the alter.....

hands down, I think he accomplished more in the shortest time against a field that is bar none; the best when viewing relative to technological parity

I grew up with Jack as my motivation to zee brain.....tiger just took it to another level

....and Bobby was the most of humble.....

The masters has the best pimento cheese sandwiches. A couple of years ago I got to see Jack Arnold and Gary tee off the first hole on the par three contest. Pretty cool.

WKU's own Kenny Perry gave away a Masters win a few years ago to Angel Caberra...

I think Dustin Johnson or JImmy Walker wins green jacket this year..

I like their BBQ's. Those are tasty. Been their three times 1997, 2007 and 2012. Great place and wonderful event to watch golf at its finest form.

RE: OT: The Masters
I was fortunate to go in 2009. Par3 contest is amazing. The guys are very personable. We sat on first green and because no one uses their real caddy, they were all bumming change from us because they didn't have ball markers for the green. It was great. Arnie's tee shot was so close to us that I could have grabbed his arse! I ate one of each sandwich they had since there was no guarantee I would ever make it back, though I did have to turn down a free ticket for Monday and Tuesday this year 01-wingedeagle

RE: OT: The Masters
My late father-in-law ran concessions at the Masters for several years... it would take his crew a few weeks just to prep their trailers because under no circumstance could any corporate logo be visible. All signage had to be Masters green & the club's select font.

He always talked about the amazing work of the grounds crew. From collecting every single stray leaf off the grounds after a storm to making sure all the.pinestraw was turned the same direction, groundskeeping was always the highlight for him.

I like Speith or Dustin Johnson this week. Speith is coming in on a good roll and finished 2nd here last year.

RE: OT: The Masters
I enjoy The Masters, but I wish Jim Nantz had the balls to throw in a snippet in his bs Butler Cabin spiels that addressed the fact that this tournament is being played at a golf club that has only recently come to grips with its bigoted and misogynistic past. Nothing lecture-length, but just a nod to the past, instead of pretending like it's always been all sunshine and azaleas.

I don't think much of Tiger Woods as a person, with the whole cheating-on-his-wife business, but wouldn't it have been a shame if Tiger had been born thirty or forty years earlier and hadn't been able to play in the Masters, a la Charlie Sifford?

you obviously don't understand why the Masters is what it is....

that's a shame....

all of americana has suffered/dealt with strife of some sort....

it's a bummer you don't see that....

me and my golf bud would always look at each other after something bad happened and state, "can't get it back"

one either learns to move forward and achieve or look back and fail again....
