The RPI number is based 25% on your record, 50% on your opponents record, and 25% on your opponent opponents record.
Translation: y'all played some real stinkers.
Losses to:
Nicholls State-183
Sam Houston St-187
Texas Tech (x2)-119
Missouri-KC-164
DePaul-163
Colorado St-121
Tennessee-Martin-179
Louisiana-Lafayette-()
Abilene Christian-218
Some of these teams we also beat, but we still have a ways to go before our program is back to its glory days.
To expound on this some more.
Nicholls: 18-13 (.58 WP), despite a rank of 183, they probably aren't hurting you that bad.
SHSU: 9-21 (.3 WP), RPI killer, avoid. I hope our game against them gets rained out.
Texas Tech: 16-20 (.44 WP), their OWP will end up being good by virtue of being in the big 12, but not enough to overcome the bad contribution from their own WP. Not a RPI beneficial team.
Missouri-KC: 19-17 (.53 WP), unless their OWP stinks, they probably aren't the worst team on your schedule RPI-wise.
DePaul: 12-16 (.43 WP), not that great.
Colorado St: 19-16 (.54 WP), similar to UMKC.
Tennessee Martin: 16-15 (.52 WP), despite a 179 rank, they're still around .500 overall. If that were to improve they could be somewhat beneficial.
UL: 27-5 (.84 WP, yeah you're welcome), despite us sweeping you guys, we did so much good for your RPI. We helped balance out that SHSU and Abilene Christian on your schedule and then some.
Abilene Christian: 6-24 (.2 WP, :-0), Yeah stop playing them.
And that's just some of your losses. You have teams that you beat that are doing more to hurt your RPI than help it.
Also just to add. Despite App and Georgia Southern being higher than you in the RPI, they, like SHSU and AC, are RPI stinkers. They are really hurting you guys right now.
