Yep. Well stated. We are at a whole new level of suckiness. Even the Tic years didnt resort to this Shiiiit. In Tic and Johnnys last year they secured Scooter and several other good HS prospects.
Tic was supposedly our LOW point. JP has us right back to that point but worse.
Please! Get real. Your history may be foggy on the Tic Price years. And Scooter, that really worked out didn't it?
That misses the point completely.

Yep!
It is a terrible sign. There is enough talent in Memphis to field 2 division 1 programs a year and Pastner is basically locked out b/c of guys like tarik black, joe jackson, adonis thomas, and nick king. These guys are huge role models for local kids and they talk. Their relatives, coaches, and friends talk. Thats not a good thing for JP.
Yup

Not true
Memphis got 4 HS players (if Nick Marshall is coming in from prep school) for this season
Memphis is now trying to replace Nick King and Pookie who is transferring late in season
There's very little HS players left although there are a few good ones left. So that leaves JUCO or graduate transfers mainly
Tic Price and Johnny didn't have luxury of graduate transfers back in the day because it didn't exist and they would have certainly gone after them if they could
There are really good graduate transfers out there where even some top teams are going after them, so it's not a negative impact especially if a team can like memphis can get a seasoned Shooter or PG

Is there a bigger issue here in regard to taking transfers? What happens to Markel Crawford if CJP brings in another SG that's a transfer? From what I saw, Crawford could develop into a very good player but if he has to share minutes with a guy transferring in, isn't CJP going down the same road with him as he did with King? If another Memphis player considers transferring next year ... SMH

The tough part with the 1999-2000 season was that Tic was canned before the season and Johnny was clearly (from a recruiting standpoint) an "interim" coach.
He couldn't recruit with any sort of assurance that he would be the h.c. that next year, so kids weren't going to pull the trigger.
Amazingly, Scooter and Lou Wright had committed to Memphis and stuck with it.
I don't know what other players form Memphis came out in the 1999-2000 class that Tic could have gotten had he not met up with a frying pan, but it seemed he was starting to get his foot in the door of Memphis kids.

He couldn't coach worth a crap, but he never lost a Memphis kid that we really wanted.
However, the Memphis classes back then were not really that deep, and, as it turns out, not very good.

Yeah. Just trying to clarify why/if people are saying Tic didn't/couldn't get Memphis kids. Some was a byproduct of few good players in that span and obviously the issue with 1999 being a complete wash.
