RE: CSNBBS Biggest Loser - Official Thread!
I'm happy to report something. Anyone who saw my percentage stats knew that my weight loss was hit or miss this Summer. I was trying to count calories and exercise, but I found my will power and resolve wasn't up to a sustained effort, with the pressures of work, school, and a new baby in the house.

Three weeks ago, I started the Atkins Diet. Since then, I have lost 14 pounds, which is nice. But the best news has to do with the reason I entered this competition in the first place. My triglycerides were high, my HDL was low, and my waist was over 40 inches in circumference. In short, I had metabolic syndrome, the forerunner for type II diabetes mellitus.

After three weeks on Atkins, my waist circumference is 37 inches, my triglycerides are normal, and, perhaps most amazingly, my HDL went up to a normal range!

I no longer have metabolic syndrome.

I'm not done. I still want to lose some more weight to get to a healthy maintenance position. But I want to thank you all for keeping me motivated. Without this competition, I might not have found a diet that worked and reached this wonderful point.

Kudos, and let's all finish strong!

Week 11 is complete! We have nine contestants eligible for the first competition title! Unfortunately, I am not one of them...but that's ok! I'm still going to try and put up a big number this week! The winner will be the person with the highest week 12 percent loss! Best of luck to all!

As for the overall competition, well, Oldtimer has run away with it, but there's still some huge losses in there! One week left! Hopefully everyone who started will update a final weight so we can see how we did as a group! So far we are down nearly 284 pounds!

RE: CSNBBS Biggest Loser - Official Thread!
Hoping and praying that I will be able to HIT my 3rd goal this last week of the challenge. It would be fantastic for me to hit all the goals I set at the start. Thank you NIU for starting this challenge it has been a great motivator for many of us.

Hey gang, if it ends up that I have the most weight lost for this Challenge and if there is any interest on the board I will share some of my personal photos and stats during my 12 week journey and my weight loss. I WILL not post if most on here have no interest. I would not want to clog up the board. (I will post at the end of the challenge if there is interest).

I have some apprehension about doing this, I have not put a lot of thought into it, but I have found that many friends, family and people that I love and know have encouraged me to share. It has started a firestorm of motivation for those in my circle to be more dedicated to eating better and winning at the weight loss challenge. With that in mind I am offering this in a very personal way to only motivate others. God be willing we can all improve our quality of life.

Here are a few examples of a few items l would post.....

My starting weight for the first weigh-in on March 31, 2015
and my last weight-in......?

My waist size at the start of the challenge and my waist size at the conclusion?

My typical Polo shirt size at the start of the challenge.......? and what it is now ?

My old shirt size for new button down size (Neck size).

Inches lost (Waist, Legs, Arms) OLD/New measurements?

My last blood pressure readings?

New Medication information (after weight loss)?

My ultimate target range I wish to reach for my weight?

Before and after photos?

I am not a technology person and I would avoid pictures in the past, so I have very few early photos. I do NOT have an I-phone so a neighbor has offered to help me with this!

Thanks again for everyone's support and motivation............!!

If anyone has any questions I will be more than happy to share any information you may ask. Just PM me.......

I still have a final goal to reach 155 pounds as my target weight (12 more pounds). I have not set any time frame, but I hope I am able to continue on.... Thank You for eveyone's help!.

I would love to see a Phase II, if there is interest and if NIU is willing to steer head the old members and maybe even a few new members into a future challenge (Phase II).

Here are a few questions that have been asked.

1) Do or have you taken any type of diet pills....... NO
2) Did you exercise.....? After the 1st few weeks I started a plan, but somewhere in the middle of the challenge I had a setback so I did 0. I have now started a very limited/in bed program.
3) Did you have a Doctor supervise.......? YES (Every week I had a check up and blood test).
4). How many calories do you typically eat in a day....750-1,000
5) Was it a special diet plan.....? YES
NO RED Meat/ NO saturated fats...they have been replaced with Fat free Items.
Nothing white or processed....White flour, No Rice, No Sugar, No Potatoes, No Pasta, or any animal FATS.

Hope this may help others... The diet plan is called "Fit for Life" and was created by my doctor that is a diabetic specialist.

Humbly submitted,

ODU Oldtimer

Alright it's all over folks! And we have 2 different winners for our 2 competitions. So, for the overall competition, no suspense here. Congratulations to ODU Oldtimer for running away with the overall competition.

Overall, as a group of 22, over 12 weeks, we lost a total of 317.1 pounds!!!! That's over 5.7% of our starting body weight! That's truly amazing!

And we have a different winner in the weekly competition...Eagle4Christ, who had a great final few weeks after the birth of his child! Congratulations on the victory!

Don't know if this is going to turn into a general weight loss thread, but I've gotten back on my diet over the last few days and hit a new minimum this morning. The girlfriend always goes to Fright Fest in October, and I want to be able to ride rides with her. I'll probably have to lose at least another 25....so my work is cut out for me.

If you ever decide to do a Round 2, drop us all a note.

I'm still working on it, and had a good week over the Fourth of all things, so still plugging along, still a ways to go.

Thanks again for putting it together and managing the whole thing. It was a significant help!
