Temple Men's and Women's Reach NIT Final Four
Not really a goal I had at the beginning of the season but it would be pretty cool to take home both titles.

It's expected for the women's team. They are very, very young and have 3 transfers sitting out this year.

RE: Temple Men's and Women's Reach NIT Final Four
In past years, sometimes the winner of the NIT has been ranked in the final poll. I hope that is the case for Temple if they win the NIT this year. It wouldn't be full restitution for being left out of the NCAA Tourney, but at least some consolation.

Good stuff. NIT shouldn't be taken lightly. At the end of a season, there are basically 4 teams in the nation that end as winners. You could control 50%.

AAC could theoretically control 75%.

Yep. IMO, the only way an NIT appearance = an NCAA tournament bid is if you win it all. It still goes down in the record as the NIT, but the notoriety you receive at least makes it on par with a first weekend exit from the NCAA. I will be rooting for both Temple teams, as well as the Huskies in the women's NCAA.

RE: Temple Men's and Women's Reach NIT Final Four
For me actually winning the NIT championship would be equivalent to winning 2 NCAA games. I would most likely purchase an NIT champ shirt but no way I would purchase a shirt saying that we won a single NCAA tourny game.

Also look at Villanova. They went and won just one game and they now talk about their program as though it's broken. Both of our programs are at a point where if we go to the NCAA tourny, anything less than the Sweet 16 is a letdown.

I like the NIT so far. It's also a short train ride to get to the upcoming games. TV coverage is good and the team seems happy to still be playing.
But I think that the men are better positioned to win it all ...

If Temple wins the NIT it will just prove that for two years in a row the AAC has been snubbed a team. I hope next year the committee wakes up and acknowledges the AAC.

Temple is the only program in the country with both its men's and women's teams still playing.

Congrats to you all, it is not often Men and Women get to attempt to be the 69th best team in the country at the same time. Just kidding, that is a good sign for both your teams next year. 04-cheers

Actually, there is a substantial difference between a beauty contest - which essentially decides the NCAA at-large field, and winning the NIT tournament (and/or reaching the final four).

It's already in the minds of the public that Temple got hosed. So, Temple is really benefitting by proving the merits of this team where it counts.

I'd take this over an out on the first weekend as well.

So happy for Will Cummings that he's had this platform.

Coach Dunphy introduced as "Mr. Big 5" at the NIT press conference.
