The only teams that would add value to the AAC would be Boise, BYU, AF, SDSU, etc...ie MW teams. And that ship sailed.

The only bb only schools that would have added value were Gtown, Nova, Marquette, SJU, etc. And that ship also sailed.

There is nobody left to add that helps us. Our image already sucks. We don't need more school raising the suck-0-meter more.

I ***COULD*** see adding 1 team of Wichita State or VCU to counter-balance out the Navy "FB only" partial membership. Either of WSU or VCU (I'd prefer VCU for it's eastern location and market-footprint) could bring enough BB mojo to seriously improve the conference RPI.

But I think all the other schools you listed do nothing to help the conference. I am always baffled by the infatuation some feel towards UMass. But UMass, ODU, and the rest would do nothing but eat into an already small conference media deal.

It would be near impossible to land vcu as a lone BB school. I would think handing out 3 BB invites would get them to bite. I don't see any negatives with increasing the markets in the aac, adding tourney quality teams, and adding more tV content.

With Barnes being fired and Smart supposedly interested in the position, I wonder if VCU loses some luster without Smart.

I could take the same stance and say the addition of these teams is asinine and ask the mods to ban all those that suggest adding them.

No need for the potshots on the AAC, but I do agree with his conclusion - expansion wouldn't be helpful.

I wasn't taking potshots in this thread...I was saying our conference already has a perception problem: fact.

I was saying adding Umass, Ga State, and the others mentioned won't help that image. I won't say fact, but you would have to prove it to me that I'm wrong.

I'd say we're shooting over par, no matter how much you obsess over what ECU basketball is doing.

I'd take that over what the Big East has done any day. Wake us all from our hibernation when a nBE member wins a Natty. It hasn't happened since parachute pants and Member's Only, *******.

The perception problem is the "P5" divide. It doesn't matter what conference we're in, certain institutions are going to get preferential treatment with that affiliation.

That's why Temple was left out. Certain other programs got the benefit of the doubt because of who their neighbors are.

Thankfully, we're still racking up hardware regardless... And that's what we have to keep on doing, if we're going to have any say down the road.

But, we're still in Year 2... Building a brand is a process. It takes time. We have to allow our new coaches to build their programs. Judging by AAC recruiting, they're doing just that.

When all you have to bring to the table is emotion based homerism, and combine this with low reading comprehension, the last thing you need is another detractor.
