CUSA Baseball/ ENIGMA
I am pleasantly surprised to see the Blue Raiders clinging to First Place about a third of the way thru the baseball season; but the sobering reality is we are in the midst of a weeklong home stand and we ought to be pretty good! But, we couldn't even beat Lipscomb, Memphis, Belmont, or the Dores (and of Course UT chickened out) so far this year. So we aren't even winning the instate games and I'm not too confident we can take ODU the rest of this weekend. Rice, Western, and a few of you other brothers are breathing down our neck! Should be a pretty competitive rest of the year on the Diamond!
How do the rest of you see your Boys of Summer as we go down the stretch?

RE: CUSA Baseball/ ENIGMA
There is a key characteristic you are not recognizing. We have elite front of the rotation pitching. The two guys we throw on Friday and Saturday have outstanding stuff and this weekend shows just how good they are. Neither brought anything remotely to their best stuff this weekend but held ODU to three runs in those first two games.
The problem for us is pitching depth. We have very inconsistent guys we are putting out there midweek and the results have been less than desirable. So, we are going to continue to struggle midweek but be very competitive on the weekends in conference games. McGuire also likes to expirament in the midweek as well so I'm hoping we have some guys on the staff emerge and establish some consistency making the club even stronger.

And we have stayed with our coach yet another year. Our Jekyl and hide performances have been consistent the last three years...

UAB just swept the series at WKU after sweeping a DH at Ole Miss earlier in the week. There are several teams capable of winning the C-USA tournament... I think Rice still has the best chance to win the regular season.

Raiders sweep ODU to move to 8-1 in league play and sets up a huge series for first place next weekend against Rice.

Geez, MT domination over ODU continues. We're about due to win in something hopefully football.

Well, if it's any consolation for you, ODU got over on our men's tennis team.

We may have the strongest team in the league (maybe) this year, but I am glad we get you guys at our place this year.
For us, we're a little behind where we'd like to be but still positioning ourselves nicely for a traditional April/May run.
Rice has shown brilliance in all phases of the game - but inconsistency as well. Our hitting has seen huge improvements over last year, which early this season had a bunch of us pencilling in a return to Omaha. But right now I think we are just in a grind-it-out mode.
I don't expect us to sweep at home this weekend, and will be happy if we just win the series and tighten the gap. Historically winning 2/3 of conference games will do the trick over the regular season. If you guys can steal one or more at our place and hold your own the rest of the way, I like your chances.

FAU lost 2 of 3 to MT but looks to have a pretty good squad this year. A lofty RPI of 7 right now.

Won one against Rice over the weekend.
James McMahon is likely the frontrunner for CUSA Pitcher of the Year. He's been more or less unhittable all season, ERA under 1.00.

Unbelievable season so far when you consider he didn't start a game in the previous three seasons and his career ERA was 6.08 in 37 appearances coming out of the bullpen.

RE: CUSA Baseball/ ENIGMA
I have never seen a team be so competitive in conference and equally as bad outside of conference. Raiders are about to fall to 0-6 in midweek games and most of those haven't even been close. We can't pitch. We can't hit. We can't field. In the middle of the week. But we look like a top 25 team on the weekends. Really is weird.
