Texas State beat Louisiana Lafayette 14-13 in game one between those two. I think there were 7-8 homers hit in that one as well.

Ga St what is the size of your field? We have hit more home runs today than we have hit in all the other games this year. In game 2 we have 6 home runs and Ga St 2. We are in the bottom of the 4th with the score 10 to 10 with Ga St still batting.

The Cajuns belt out a school record 7 HRs against TXST to take game 2, 15-2 (5). TXST also had a HR.

in game 1, each team had 4 HRs with each team hitting a grand slam in TXST's 14-13 win.

so if I counted correctly, there was a total of 16 HR's hit in today's doubleheader.

The Cajuns are without their Head Coach Michael Lotief this weekend due to an illness

ULM also turned a triple play in that first game. First one at Georgia Southern's field since April, 2010.

RE: Softball 3/28-29
Going into this year I pretty much figured Louisiana was hands-down the best Sun Belt team, but the fact that Troy, Texas St. and South Alabama have taken a game from the Cajuns makes me believe it is not an automatic assumption that the Cajuns will win the conference tournament at Texas St. this year.

What is very apparent is that the 2 worst team in the league this year are the 2 newcomers-- App. St. and us. We have managed 1 conference win and App. has none. Well someone is going to get some more this coming weekend as GS travels to App.

In conference, it is hard to sweep a series against the top teams. It's good if you can take a series, especially on the road. The Cajuns have now won 5 conference series. The softball season is long, 60 games, so it's hard to be on all the time.

That's what was amazing about the men's baseball team last year, before the Super Regional, they played 64 games and only lost 7.

Anything can happen at the conference tournament. You could be playing a team that is hot and everything is falling their way. Upsets happen all the time.

For instance TXST was hot in game 1 of our series and beats us 14-13, then in game 2 the Cajuns were hot and belted out a school record 7 HR's and win 15-2.

Like they say, that's why they play the game,

ULM hasn't lost a conference series thus far but we've had two series (South Alabama and Texas State) where we've only had two games played because weather canceled the third game in each series. Both times we've split the doubleheaders. I don't know if there's plans to reschedule those third games of each series.

There aren't. If they can't be played when scheduled, they aren't played.

That sucks for the other teams because you get a pass on two of the best teams in the conference but its great for ULM if that happens against UL you can win the conference. But it happens good to see quite a few teams playing well rather than just the normal two.
