NMSU adds Texas A&M To 2016 Schedule
First time for both schools to play one another in football. NMSU will get 1.5 million for the game in College Station.

I like that the game will be played at the end of October.

Congrats! Great payday for y'all . . . . A&M is the closest thing to a state sanctioned cult in Texas. Y'all will love the GameDay experience in College Station.

I'll go on record as predicting an Aggie Victory . . . .

We have one of those here in NM, its called UNM, they worship a wolf called Louie. Their Fans were on suicide watch a while back when their MBB Team went 0-8 in the month of February. I have a UNM friend who it still catatonic after loss 3. Will be moving him to a padded cell to tell him UNM didn't win the MWC Tournament and didn't go to the post season.

A&M's stadium is currently going through a 450 million dollar expansion. Once complete, seating capacity (though Aggies don't sit) will be at 102,512, making it the largest stadium in the SEC and the largest stadium (college) in Texas. Included will be the largest Video Display Board in all of College Football.

We do have a lot in the Houston area - 90 miles away. Also in Austin and DFW. We will sell our full ticket allotment for sure.

They are spending $450 million on an expansion! Guess &1.5 million to play us is pennies to them.

Just watched the video on the website for Kyle Field. I really feel insignificant now.

Well, you know what they say . . . . "Everything's BIGGER in Texas."
And considering that Football is its own Religion here, you'd have to expect that the Football equivalent of a Cathedral would have to be built on a Grand Scale ... . .

Congrats again on the "Gig"

The last phase of renovation which is currently underway will actually reduce capacity from last season. Last year's stated capacity was just under 107,000. The highest attendance was 110,633 (against Ole Miss).

Y'all should have a good time there. We had A&M season tickets for 15 years. (I'm a third generation Aggie.)

To get some idea of what FBS vs FCS is worth, Lamar got $350,000 this year to play at Kyle Field. (The game was scheduled in 2010 and agreement had terms to increase payment if Lamar had moved to FBS, but much less than the $1.5 Million.)

Part of the difference would be in travel costs since it only takes around 2 1/2 hours to drive from Beaumont to College Station, but I imagine there is a premium of being an established program vs a restart as well.

I hate to root against a conference mate but I'll have to simply wish you luck and congratulate you on a big payday for your school. A&M is my other favorite program. My dad played there for Bear Bryant as a backup to Gene Stallings.

And possibly NMSU is a little more 'exotic' in College Station than what Lamar would be.
