They did go to the FF in 03, the E8 in 06 and 08 and the S16 in 02 and 04.

Been dry for awhile, though. That run from 01-08 was incredible. 15-8 record in the NCAA's in that time. 3-6 since then.

Perfect case of a guy needing a fresh start somewhere else. Just 4 years too late. Every year, though, it was "just give him that next year...look at the recruits coming in...."

RE: Texas just opened up
This should be interesting. Let the dominos fall how many openings is that now? U got UT, Texas, St. John's, ASU, Alabama and prob a few more I have missed will be fun to watch how all this shakes out. Of course our AD may leave too so this is going to be a wild offseason. We need some change and there is no time like the present. Not sure if any of this impacts us one way or another but I'm hoping Capel turns down ASU and Pastner takes it. Then u go hard after Pearl of Marshall if they turn you down u go Bobby Hurley or Brad Underwood. I think Archie Miller just signed extension with Dayton so he may not be available.

I don't think u can stand pay with Pastner it's gotten to the point where both parties need to move on. Outside of three or four people on here nobody believes in him including players and coaches which is why half the team has transferred out and we lose coaches every year. Let Kirby be the interim til u find your guy if u have to but the atmosphere around the program is such that you can't go forward with this guy. Bruce Pearl is obviously the dream hire and he understands memphis basketball and respects it plus he knows he can win big here. I'm dreaming I know but man I would love to have Pearl.

Ha. That's debatable.

Texas saves a quarter million by waiting until after April 1st to fire Barnes.

Marshall to Texas. That leaves Bama empty handed - Prohm signed an extension with Murray through 2020 today.

Take him for what? If you dislike Pastner, you should loathe Barnes.

Agree. Would be a step down or, for sure, not an improvement.

These hot mid-major coaches might want to slow their roll with these extensions. Don't take your name out of the hat inadvertently.

It doesn't really matter, if they want to leave they will leave.
