Coach Bada Bingbong
Watched a video of Coach Bingbong at spring practice. Not much you can take away from it, but from a recruiting standpoint I don't think Fleck will have a lot of competition. I just didn't feel he had the "it" factor. Can't see a kid being dazzled by him like you could with BK or Butch.

Maybe he'll be a great X and O guy,

Got to be a more dynamic recruiter than Enos.

This CMU's new coach? He looks like Lex Luthor.

His coaching skill is pretty much an unknown. Not sure if his track record as a Special Teams coach can be a gret predictor. I think his hiring was a risk but time will tell. Maybe his total love of cmu and commitment to stay at cmu will inspire him in his head coach role........nawwwww he better come with some skills or in 3 to 5 a new coach will be on the scene. Looks like he already is under the gun if you look at Flecks pace and his recruiting skill.Let's face it his tenure will be measured by his record against WMU.

I think Enos had that MSU connection to influence HS coaches, and I'm sure parents liked him, but I doubt he dazzled 17 year olds.

Imagine walking into any living room in the state of Michigan, and telling these kids and their parents that you were the special teams coach for the Detroit Lions.

Ahhhh

He may be able to recruit as well as \Enos - but pretty sure he can out coach him. CMU has not had a talent issue, but coaching. Enos's manner of departure reflected his coaching style - WHAT? What was that?

Judging by the amount of time Heeke gave Enos, it would seem he values loyalty more than winning. If Bono manages to do what Enos did, than I expect he will be kept around, which would not be ideal for the program should that happen. My speculation is that Heeke offered the job to at least one other person with the caveat that he keep the majority of Enos' staff. These candidates said no and Heeke landed on Bono who was open to the idea.

Bono has said all the right things to a fan base that was alienated by Enos. He certainly has a lot more personality than Enos, which isn't saying much. It's cool to have an alum leading the program, but I won't give a damn if he doesn't win games.

I also don't know if there was a realistic hire out there that could usurp what Fleck has done. I don't know if the MAC will ever see a coach who has done what Fleck has on the recruiting trail. Especially when you consider he's done it for two consecutive classes with a third shaping up nicely early on.[/quote]

One might say the same thing about Kathy Beauregard and Jim Culhane. One might, but it won't be me. 07-coffee3

enos could not coach period. His nose was buried in that damn play sheet all the time. He had no clock management and simply was not fit to be coach, later in an interview he even told that being a head coach is not all that it is cracked up to be.

I like the Bono hire, I love the energy and passion to his alma mater. He is recruiting out of michigan which is something different. The all might question is can he coach?

How good a head coach Bonamego is remains to be seen.

Just glad they didn't hire Tony Annese.

So Annese will be back at Ferris next year for sure then right?

Cool! Nice having them start to overtake GVSU.

"Start" to overtake GVSU?

Ferris has finished ahead of GVSU in GLIAC last two years. Annese is 3-0 against Lakers.

His QB the last few years was really good and fun to watch. Ferris has a ton of talent on the roster right now and I am excited to see who the next QB will be.

Ferris would probably beat the heck out of Eastern.

Eastern would be much more competitive (in football) in the GLIAC than they are in the MAC.

Two things:
The argument of GLIAC vs MAC teams is silly. The best GLIAC team would take it on the chin every week in the MAC. Different caliber of athletes, period.
As far as EMU being better suited for the GLIAC competitively, you do realize they have won three of the last four games against WMU, right?!

That's true, but if our recruiting pans out, they shouldn't be able to beat us in foreseeable future.
