MSU game rumblings
A little while ago, I heard some rumblings about possibly bringing in additional bleachers for the WMU vs. MSU game in the fall. Didn't think much of it.
Couple days ago, I heard this again from someone completely separate. I wouldn't necessarily consider this person "in the know" but they are certainly in a line of work that leads me to believe he wouldn't be making this up for no reason. I'm not going to throw out the actual number I heard (at the risk of being chastised), but let's just say it's a pretty sizable capacity increase.
So this has me really wondering... has anyone else heard similar rumblings? And where in the world would additional seating even go? Has to be in the west end zone I would think? But even then, I still can't picture the logistics of this even it was truly a reality.

Don't obstruct the hills. I want the hills to be packed. I love the hills.

RE: MSU game rumblings
I would say expand the outer corners and that right-side endzone bleachers (if retractable; I have no idea), expand those bigger with it, etc.
Right now, with the hills, going over-capacity, we could hit 37k (or record is over 36k), maybe 38k. Adding in expansion on the outer corners -- adding, say, 5k? That'd break the 40k mark.
The number you heard though -- what "pretty sizable" increase is it? I mean, how much could we actually really do, ya know? I couldn't seeing it expand much beyond 5k, unless those right-side end-zone is retracted and greatly replaced and extending around the corner (and extending the other corner) to make it nearly 10k?
That'd be cool to get close to 50k. I can't imagine that really happening, though. Of course, with the power of PJ Fleck and the strength of a thousand field mice -- anything's possible.

If it rains the hills will be a mess. Hope it doesn't, we want to showcase the experience.

That would be interesting. Not a lot of places to put extra stands unless they get really creative with it.

There will be LOTS of GREEN as Spartan fans think the ticket prices are cheap while many Bronco fans believe the ticket prices are highway robbery.

I doubt they would add seats to only get more spartan fans there. If they were to add seats they must believe that they could fill them with broncos.

Quote:"...the strength of a thousand field mice"?
It's funny when I google "strength of a thousand field mice" in quotes -- it only comes up with things I posted on the web. This forum site being the primary one. Hmm. Anyway, it comes from the old comedic super-hero cartoon Banana Man, as the narrator points out that he has the strength of a thousand field mice (in a bragging/positive sort of way).

Well, I could see them doing it for more fans in general. But yeah, not merely due to Spartans knocking on the door. However, I would assume many extras would be locals, and there'd be a mixture. I think Admin wouldn't mind a generic who-knows mixture. Bigger stadium seating will make better exposure, etc. But if it was Known it was for tickets to sell thru MSU? Oh, no.

There is lots of room to put portables on the landing on either side of the press box. Concessions would have to be moved elsewhere.
Put portables in the two corners in the west Endzone and you easily have 10,000 more seats.

At $70 a pop, I'd sell them to anyone that wants one, MSU, WMU, whatever.

I would think anything portable would be on top of the hills/landing near pressbox area.

That's what I said. On the landings on either side of the press box. But tou could still do the corners although there would be little flat ground for the portables footings, so that may not work.

For some reason, I always read threads from the end to the beginning. So, of course, I was assuming that "portables" meant Port-a-Potties.

Pretty close to the number I heard, but keep going.

I know for a fact that they are at least considering this. A staging vendor I work with occasionally told me they recently wrote a quote for 12,000 temporary seats.

Numerous companies in the portable seating business, some of the portable stuff is really impressive. I would think they'd bring in a couple of these on either side of the press box, although perhaps without individual seating. This is an example of one used at a tennis venue.

RE: MSU game rumblings
The Stadium Dr/Scoreboard corner could certainly handle Portables, but they'd need to be set back from the slop, and have a pretty high elevation for the first row. Similar to what we see in this picture above my comment. (probably only 1/2 as wide though)
