Herb might not have gotten the job done as a head coach, but look at the assistants he has cultivated:

Thad Matta
Archie Miller
Sean Miller
John Groce

All of those guys have gotten to a S16 at the least.

Josh needs a veteran assistant and Herb has been great with molding young guys with the "it" factor into successful head coaches. Pastner had that "it" factor at one point and perhaps he just needs guidance.

Thoughts?

I don't think Josh wants that kind of experience and 'competition' on his staff. He's IN CONTROL, just ask him. He seems to want coaches who do as he tells them or have top 15 kids in tow, not coaches who will challenge and debate him.

That may work for coaches like X, K, etc. but it doesn't work when you've never made it out of the first weekend of the big dance SEVERAL times much less not even once.

I like it for the program because if CJP can work with him and they turn things around, that would be awesome. If for some reason CJP decides to make a move, we have an experienced guy already in the fold. However, I believe ESPN has already contacted Sendeck about being an analyst until he finds the job he wants or decides to retire to tv.

I'm sure Herb is a reach, BUT the fact he has a proven ability to teach younger guys is a huge plus.

Yeah, Grant seems like another version of Josh just without the recruiting edge.

Can we get Doris Burke? She seems to have a grasp on how badly we do things and things we should be doing. She knows her stuff.

I'd jab pencils in my tympanic membranes and gauge out my eyes. I hate that woman!

Yeah, Keady is "special assistant" but was actually an assistant a few years back.

Excellent analysis.

You should post a pic of you wife and let us judge her hotness. Or post one of yourself, since you apparently work for John Casablanca.

Pretty sure she already an unpaid assistant for UConn.

She knows her stuff and when you watched pretty much any analyst they were breaking down the Tigers weaknesses easily.

Remember the ECU game when, near the end, they were practically mocking Pastner for his end of the game strategy?

The number of times they commented on Pastner leaving guys in when they were in foul trouble. Guys getting killed on backdoor cuts?

If the job is to analyze, then this team gave those folks a lot of material.

RE: Since Josh is staying: Hire Herb Sendek as Assistant
I don't think JP will hire an experienced head coach as an assistant. Why you ask? If an experienced x & o guy is on the bench, it is easier to let him go mid season and tag an assistant as "interim" while a coaching search goes on. JP is a much better career planner than he is coach. I'll give him that.

Josh had absolutely positively #noclue that he was even a consideration or candidate, so to say he planned his career is a stretch, I think.....

The powers that BE wanted any linkage to Cal,that Cal would allow.....Cal rubbed our noses in his crap and only left us to consider Josh, as I don't think he could legally protect Josh, or either laughed in our faces and said "if you're stupid enough to hire this guy, then go right ahead".....

Josh had to go and consult with the master, as he didn't know how to take this on,as it was a total shock....and really a lot more responsibility than Josh knew what to handle...it seems that this very phenomenon is what's hindering Josh, as he hasn't got his "sea legs" yet.....he's still very green in many aspects, and that indecisiveness costs dearly @ this level......he should be @ D2......or a women's school before being cast @ this level....that way he takes his lumps early.....understands how to win games that you aren't supposed to win(by drawing up plays, being creative).....and deal with emotions on an extreme circumstance.....as the humility that causes in front of millions is irrefutable.

The hiring of Josh was an absolute aberration that actually started as a pleasant surprise. ......

Now we have seen how indecisiveness from lack of true coaching experience is sinking the ship.
