Haase signs 6 year deal with UAB
GoodmanESPN Jeff Goodman
UAB coach Jerod Haase has signed a six-year deal with the Blazers, school announces.

Kind of interesting. He has to be content with the direction where ever they are going.....

Moves from $525,000 to $1,000,000 per year, plus incentives. Also announced are upgraded practice facilities, remodeled basketball offices, LED lighting in Bartow Arena, & raises for assistant coaches.

Well, Sounds like some of the football money is being directed at building up basketball. But, you have to wonder what conference they have lined up to double the HC salary and raises for assistants.

that is a big jump - good for UAB basketball but does it mean they moved the football's fund/money over to basketball?

That's the company line.

That's a huge pay increase for sure! Just hope you guys didn't just pull a SIU job. They did the same thing and could not afford to fire the coach after they stared to fall off the face of the earth as early as the next season..... SIU is still trying to recover from that disaster and probably set them back 10 years

Mike White is getting $650k + incentives. If he stays, he will definitely get another raise.

and he deserves it. He's done wonders with the budget he has been given.

RE: Haase signs 6 year deal with UAB
Haase deserves the money, but you can bet this is in part politically motivated as well.

I'm sure some would like to see UAB go the route a la Gonzaga or Witchita State but there's no reason that UAB can't or shouldn't have football as well. For one, UAB is located in the heart of the deep south. Fans here have a totally different view of sports than folks do in the Midwest and West coast. Football translates into credibility. That's one big reason why pretty much every UAB person want to continue football. The other relates to conference affiliation and the fact that many, not just CUSA, are made up of football-playing members.

Great for UAB basketball and Haase. But this will not divert our attention or lessen the outrage over the football scandal.

Am I the only one here is thinks Watts has at least a verbal agreement from CUSA to stay? I believe a lot is going on in the back ground right now.

Nah. Makes me think someone at UAB leaked that MVC rumor to prepare us. C-USA one more year, then gone.

He may have an agreement that we will be okay for 2015-2016 as we all suspected. But beyond that, I doubt he has any such assurance.

Being in the MVC wouldn't be a bad spot. You'd be an outlier, but would have a better slate of opponents than you do in CUSA.

That was Floyd's original salary. I'm pretty sure he got a raise 2 years ago up around 1mil/yr.

We don't know how much Price is getting yet. I suspect it is less than 600k though.

UTEP is getting ripped off if he's getting a million per year.
