Memphis comes out of the witness protection program:

OAKLAND, Calif., March 23 — Heading into its Round of 16 game against Bradley, Memphis reigned as the great unknown in this N.C.A.A. tournament.

The Tigers are a collection of lanky, athletic players. Some of them — like Rodney Carney, Darius Washington Jr. and Shawne Williams — may have long careers in the N.B.A.

Darius Washington Jr. with 18 points, and note that he comes right out using the left hand. Some kid off the bench named Carney scores 23:

Enjoy the ride!

Did Seth Davis do that, too? Those CBS guys knew how to pull our chains back then.

Davis had us losing to Arkansas. They were calling Dallas "Bud Walton west". I guess the Hogs just overlooked Bucknell

Oral Roberts had a ken prom rating of 199 that year:

The best 16 seed this year had a kenpom of 132.

Wow, fun watching that. That was a great team. I am still haunted by that UCLA game. 31.5% from the field, our starters were 10-39 from the field. 2-17 from 3.

We had a team that could have won it all.
