I would love it, however, if ECU were independent, then BYU would have a decent opponent for the annual November schedule.

NIU mentioned in the same categories as those schools though, so that's nifty

Not sure why everyone hates on the idea of NIU being invited to the AAC if a spot were to become available though *shrug*

IMO, the AAC is destined to be C-USA 3.0 unless it can actually become an "American" conference. And this means western expansion.

NIU fits into that strategy. Although NIU wouldn't necessarily "deliver" the Chicago market and its 3.5 million TV households, it would help the "American" brand with a good, competitive football team near one of America's top-3 markets. It's also not terribly remote with Cincinnati, Memphis, and Tulsa within driving distance.

I think it makes a lot of sense and i saw some Houston and UCF people agree, but a ton of Uconn and Memphis fans tried crucifying me for suggesting it. Yeah NIU basketball is terrible but they have a phenomenal football program and isn't that in need of strengthening in the AAC?

There is no scenario where the guardians of a corrupt system would ever allow one of the Little Sisters of the Poor an opportunity to expose their segregated league for the sham that it is.

Gee YNOT I think byu is destined to become army as an independent if they don't find a way to gain access to the NY6 bowls. No offense to NIU but the teams that we need are borderline top g5 to p5 teams. I root for you all but now is not theTime another directional non marketshare bringing Cinderella team. Byu-yes, boise-yes, sdsu-yes, csu or AFA-yes. A mac upstart right now screams mid major to tv execs.

My issue is that the attendance isn't close yet. Now if support increases when the new stadium opens and we have an opening NIU should be considered. We are getting the same thing from the p5. Our market can't be turned into dollars yet so like others we have to wait. In the interim proven brands help us and up and comers don't.
