Oh, I like that. Good find. Memphis is only one of a few non "The State" schools that show up.

Alaska doesn't have a favorite college team?

An interesting angle on that map is that there are several schools not part of P5 conferences - Memphis, VCU, Creighton & UConn among them that are the most popular within certain states. And without doubt that popularity comes from the strength of the programs. That said, the NCAA selection committee seems to ignore that popularity & program strength of non-P5 schools in favor of P5 schools during the tourney selection process. Not that popularity should be a selection criteria but that being in a P5 conference certainly should not bias the process in favor of P5 schools. This bias is pervasive in most all of the ranking & rating services as to how they value strength of schedule, certain wins & losses etc. Example being the idea that there are 7 schools (NCAA & NIT) in the SEC better even this season that Memphis (I don't buy it even this year). As proof we see that even Baylor can lose to GA St, so there should not be this consistent and pronounced bias in favor of P5 BB schools (even though Baylor would likely beat GSU 9 of 10 times).

Really underlines the fact that basketball has zero to do with getting into a power conference.

Don't get to caught up in how the NCAA selects basketball teams... for us to get into a P 5 conference, ITS ALL ABOUT FOOTBALL! Period!
We have to continue increasing our investment into the football program and NOT LET UP!

I understand the dynamics of FB vs BB but the map is about basketball - and it is the recent selection committee(s) decisions that show major bias in favor of P5 schools. I was drawing attention to the irony that popularity, in the case of BB, is not P5 consistent yet the bias is pervasive in favor of P5 BB as well as FB.

Hard to believe that VCU is more popular than Virginia or that

Duke is more popular than North Carolina in their respective states.

Memphis is my favorite, no matter what state I am in.

10C is a basketball school. they have won multiple national championships in the sport

Georgia over Geogria Tech ???

Iowa State over Iowa?

Chaminade over Hawaii? I know I've seen the Chantileers play many more times than I've seen the Rainbows - but all in the Maui Invitiational.
