Barclays Center Classic where we will play 2 of the following 3: Tennessee, Nebraska, George Washington
@Xavier
@VCU
And we might have Michigan at home -- I know it's coming up, and rumors are that it will be on next year's schedule.

Mick Cronin is on the record saying that he has purposefully scheduled tougher opponents since the old Big East fell apart. I would expect at least 1 more game against a power conference/tournament caliber team to be announced, as well as some solid mid-majors. I believe our non-conference SOS this season was 27th and that's probably about what to expect going forward.

The top schools seem to be slowly increasing or maintaining their OOC schedules...which is good, but let's get those bottom teams to comply.

RE: OOC Schedules for 2015-2016 MBB Season
The goal for teams in our league should be a minimum of 5 top 100 RPI games, and 5 more in the 101-200 range. Obviously there's no way to assess how good an opponent will be on a yearly basis, but if a program's history and conference affiliation are taken into account, there's a pretty decent shot of getting it right.

Sometimes you just get really unlucky. I don't believe anyone in our league played them, but St. Louis went from a #26 RPI last year to #271 this year. I'm sure there were some teams on their schedule counting on a quality opponent that got hosed on that one.

ECU likely will have 1-2 non division 1 opponents. Along with that James Madison, and UNCW and probably some schools like UNCG, NC a&t and norfolk state. Im sure we play 1 big name on the road for a buy game as well, but Lebo will continue to pad his win total as he has every year

If he continues to schedule that way, I hope the other coaches in the conference blackball him.

RE: OOC Schedules for 2015-2016 MBB Season
It actually makes me angry now looking back at East Carolina's schedule this past season:

Gulf Coast Showcase vs. Green Bay, Fresno State, and Hawaii (Evansville, Florida Gulf Coast University, Marist, and San Francisco were the other powerhouses in the 8-team field)

North Carolina Wesleyan (NCAA Division III)

VU Lynchburg (USCAA -- whatever that is, probably below DIII and NAIA)

UNC Wilmington

UNC Asheville

UNC Greensboro

Florida Atlantic

Florida A&M

James Madison

Central Connecticut State

North Carolina
(only attempt out of the entire non-conference slate to schedule a respectable opponent)

So, basically Lebo scheduled 2 schools that aren't even division II, a pre-season tournament with all low-major and mid-major teams, a money game at North Carolina, and a bunch of games against UNC branches and directional schools from the MEAC and Big South. I can't believe your athletic director signed off on that garbage. AAC scheduling mandates need to happen yesterday.

Until I see otherwise, yes. His first 4 years in CUSA Lebo scheduled 4 non-division 1 teams every year so at least the number was dropped to 2 this year

This link below list tournaments, round robins, challenges, etc. for everyone. It looks like there are openings available. Coaches for Cancer is open and usually attracts good teams. As for challenges the Big East, A10, MWC, and P12 are not involved in any challenges.

I didn't see East Carolina, Houston, or UCF on the list for any of the events or games.

* Temple is in the Puerto Rico Tip-off with some pretty good teams(Butler, Utah, etc.).
* Tulsa is in the Paradise Jam with a fair list of teams.
* UCONN is in the Battle 4 Atlantis with some good teams (Gonzaga, Texas, etc.). ** UCONN also play in the Jimmy V Classic against Maryland
* Cincy is in the Barclays Classic with decent teams.
* SMU is in the Las Veagas classic with fair team.
* USF plays Kentucky in HOF Events #1 (Round Robin)
* Memphis plays OSU in HOF Event #2 (Round Robin)

The bigger problem is that we actually LOST to some of those teams, but yes, and ECU fans agree our scheduling is pathetic (although I don't have a problem scheduling JMU).

OOC Schedules for 2015-2016 MBB Season
I would schedule:

UNC Wilmington (old CAA foe)
UNC Asheville (They usually are fighting for their conference title)
UNC Greensboro/Elon (alternating; easy bus trip)
Campbell (just never at their place again)
Charlotte (CUSA 1.0 foe)
Davidson (might have to do a 2-1 deal with them at this point)
ODU (easy bus trip if desired and they are usually good)
George Washington/James Madison (alternating; regional foe)
Richmond/VCU (alternating; old CAA foe)
Norfolk State (usually fighting for their conference title)
Wofford (becoming an annual tournament team with the new SoCon)
Coastal Carolina (used to play them regularly)
Wake/NC State (alternating)
Duke/UNC (alternating)
Clemson/SoCar (alternating)

Lebo has the best basketball job in the country. He puts together schedules like that, doesn't even go .500, and gets praise and a contract extension through 2021.

I guess enough fans and Pirate Club members are pleased with beating Memphis and Cincinnati once every few years. It certainly doesn't seem that way from the online contingent but nothing seems to be happening. I would love for Lebo to schedule better, after that I would love for Compher to force him if he won't. If it has to come down to the AAC mandating changes then so be it, but this is something that ECU should be fixing on their own. It wasn't even an ok schedule in C-USA but now we are in a conference with multiple prestigious basketball programs, at least one other on the rise, and the defending national championship. It is embarassing. Our play in conference this year showed that we can belong in this conference for basketball (albeit in a down year) but our scheduling does not reflect what this conference is, or could be.

Rest assured you are preaching to the choir. Just like others posting here telling ECU fans we need to change isn't doing anything, neither is ECU fans posting on our board that we need to do something. It's time for ECU fans to become more vocal and let the administration and coach know that we want better scheduling, and if that means less home games than so be it.

We have a great opportunity in basketball joining this conference but we are trying to do it with one foot in and one foot out and it is not helping us, and it is certainly not helping the rest of the conference.

That said, changing our schedule is only part of the problem. We will be an RPI anchor until we start bringing in better recruits (it seems like this is starting to happen) and winning some of those quality OOC games.

Yeah, I'm a little bummed about the field for that one. South Carolina is the only other team that finished top 100 RPI and Florida State is the only other name team. With a senior-led team next year we need to schedule some big games early in the season.
