Cold weather, lack of tradition, and MLB are solid reasons why many northern schools don't invest in baseball. The Cincinnati Reds are an institution while UC baseball is virtual unknown to the local sports fan.

Exactly. Its more of a southern sport. The counter sport in the north would likely be hockey. That's pretty popular in the north and there are schools that actually generate some revenue there. The SEC dominates attendance in baseball. They are making money off the sport with a number of SEC schools averaging 7-10K a game.

Baseball and soccer are both more popular at UCONN than lacrosse. UCONN averages over 4,000 in attendance per game in men's soccer - top 5 in the country. UCONN has one of the best baseball programs in the Northeast. In general, the Huskies have good attendance/interest throughout the Athletic Department though.

So he wants to cut:

A top football and baseball school
A top football and baseball school
A top academic school who is good but not great in sports
A top football and baseball school

So he'll rather **** over the other two big NCAA sports so his team can again lose in the first weekend of the tournament? Yeah he'll totally be in a position of power...

RE: How to improve Basketball in AAC
Next year will be a banner year for the AAC without changing anything in b-ball.
