Or Mudiay had decided to stay.

He didn't have a choice.

Mudiay didn't just spend one year at Deion Sander's fake Prime Prep (now closed), he spent 2 years....and he still didn't have enough academic credit/progress to be cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse. (SMU admitted him because SMU wants to win).

Handlers made bad choices - should have never gone to Prime but he will be fine and rich..

He knew that years ago...hence why he didn't even put in a minimal effort during his years in HS...let alone Deion's prep school for 2 years.

Sadly, there are hundreds of players, if not thousands in both HS football and basketball that don't have Mudiay's skills that think the same...and end up with college degrees nor any professional success.
