Overbearing mods being overbearing....

Reddit, an internet social news aggregator based in San Francisco, has recently had a monster leak from their moderator chatroom. It is purported that this leak came from a disgruntled user, who dumped the contents of the whole #modleak channel to pro-gamer media. This leak entails a lengthy chat log which captured conversations from September 15th 2013 to February 17th 2015. The leaked chats vary from seemingly jovial discussions to argumentative discussions.

It's quite disconcerting how a few mods on reddit have helped to shape the narrative of GamerGate.

It's a message forum with the key differences being

1. The users create the individual forums and whoever creates a specific forum essentially plays the role of GTS.

2. You can submit a regular post with text, or an article. Users will upvote/downvote based on how positively or poorly it is received. More votes the higher it is on the list. There is an algorithm that weights down popular posts after a short amount of time to keep a fresh wave of new content. It's going to put gts outta business one day.

I like Reddit, check it every day almost. You'll see stuff on there days before it hits the regular news cycle, etc. Still had no idea what "Gamergate" was/is.

It's a world of nerds that worry about those things. I have a few nephews who are big time nerds and are into that stuff.

Don't be fooled by the gaming origins; this was important because it was determined that journalists were colluding with developers to try and shape the gaming world to fit a more liberal narrative.

Of course, the female/male thing was also involved cause of reported "relations" between certain developer higher-ups and those same journalists.

To be honest, I've still yet to figure out who's being the "nearest" to completely honest in all this. (note that I'm not calling either honest, because I think some of the claims are true on both sides, and I think some are false flags.)
