Agreed. This is the league we're in now. There is no point in b!tching about it, and I am really tired of hearing/reading it.

Besides, if the league is soooooooo inferior, what does that make us? We should be killing everyone if that is so, but we're not.

RE: Tulsa fans
People take this stuff too seriously. Quite frankly, I thought it was hilarious when the uc poster talked about Tulsa playing at the local YMCA. No one should take that comment seriously. It was a great metaphor that made me chuckle even if it was 100 percent inaccurate. Have we fans (Cincy and Tulsa et al.) become so insecure that we cannot joke about these type of things. Sure, there is a point of bad taste, but it was not met in this thread. Remember, drama on a message board does not equal drama in real life. If you cannot separate the two, step away from the internet.

Will we ever have a rivalry with Tulsa: probably not. It's too far away and we have no history. We have history with Memphis and a limited amount with UConn and that is it. Louisville, Miami, and possibly Charlotte could be considered rivals in my lifetime and that is it. The Charlotte series was a conference usa creation due to the success of the programs and the actions of the players.

I think you have some valid points but as far as gripes, this is what makes a lot of UC and UCONN fans mad BJ:

OOC SOS:
ECU 300
UCF 319
Tulane 326
Houston 330

and I think the gripe here is legit. Do you like it when UC beats one of these teams and our RPI falls three spots? I dont. And heaven forbid we lose one of these games (like we have).

Its a legit gripe. Aresco needs to have a meeting on this subject and put some rules in place. UC, UCONN, SMU, Temple, Memphis all agree.

I enjoyed and participated in the smack talk leading up to the game as well. But people still talking smack after the game is classless IMO.

RE: Tulsa fans
I had to stay away from here for a few days after that loss, I knew it'd be a big game and would've been the missing high quality win we needed to finally get off the bubble. Of our final two games (Cincy and @SMU) I felt this was the game we had the better chance of winning, primarily due to home court, but also because we don't match up well with SMU.

I'm disappointed that we lost, and I felt like the refs really made the game hard to watch at times. They called some very very questionable calls both ways, and were inconsistent in how physical they would let each team play.

I'm proud of the TU students, we have about 2,500 undergraduate and 1,500 graduate students. If I were to guess, I'd say we had about 900-1000 students at the game and they were very vocal, without being classless like they were in the SMU game.

I'm disappointed TU lost but it was a very exciting game to watch (minus the refs). One other thing I really came away impressed by the Cincy team was I almost never saw your players complain to the refs about crappy fouls or no call fouls. Its something that has become too commonplace in the sport and something I don't like.

Kudos to Cincy for being the better team Wednesday night, hope we meet again in the AAC tournament, you may not be the better team then (or at least I hope not!)

As to the YMCA smack in the pre-game thread, I think it was pretty clear a majority of fans on each side knew it was all fun. There were a few fans on both sides that took things too seriously, overall it was a fun thread though and I had a lot of fun with it.

Mullins, I agree with you, the thread was entertaining and I didn't get my feelers hurt. Tulsa posters typically can dish right back with the best of them so we are all good with the smack talk. 04-cheers

RE: Tulsa fans
Next year Tulsa should be better in the back-court shooting wise. We better be. Unfortunately we will still have the same problems with our front line. Tulsa has to use forwards to go against teams with true posts. Some have several true posts. Usually that is a losing proposition. We have done well to win as many as we have this year. This team can go deep into the regular season with a lot of wins but won't win it all. Same with AAC tourny. Same problems. Unless we pullout a miracle win against SMU we are NIT bound.
