Hard to say about Martin.....I think he might flip to Iowa State. Ronnie Jones seems really happy to be a Rocket. I would be surprised if he doesn't stick with UT.

Why would you want to gamble 4 short years of your football eligibility with a bunch of guys who had a 3 win season? The coaches don't take the field, the players do. By the time Campbell puts out that dumpster fire, if he does at all, how many years of your eligibility will be smoked?

The guys who flipped can sit and spin for all I care. IMO, it shows a lack of character to flip before you even know what is going on at the school you committed to. I want guys who aren't flakes that fold at the first sign of hard times. To quote Mike Singletary "Cannot play with them, cannot win with them, cannot coach with them. Can't do it. I want winners."

We are Toledo Tough for a reason. Go Rockets!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aaron Mathews highlight film on Hudl is pretty impressive. Per the tweets from George our latest commit from Pittsburgh CC, it looks like he knows Mathews, who plays at Clarion just outside Pittsburgh, and thinks he will commit to Toledo. We really have an excellent Pittsburgh connection. Aaron looks to be an excellent athlete and would be our highest rated recruit for this class.

I believe there are now 17 commits (including the JC transfer who has signed). I believe that there are 19 seniors. Also there is I believe at least 1 grey shirt applicable to this class. Therefore, is my math right and there is only 1 scholarship available?

Just saw this on Twitter via @RocketNation_:
Boom!! Jason Candle gets 3-star athlete Desmond Phillips (Miami, FL) to recommit to the Rockets. Phillips plans to enroll early.

He really likes Penn State and he will add them to his schools to choose from.....so he now has a top four. The fact that UT is in a top four with Penn State, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia says a lot about where the UT football program is right now in terms of perception.

RE: 2016 Football Recruiting Thread
Desmond Phillips is a huge addition to the Rockets! Committed to Toledo back in May but then started receiving a lot of interest from his hometown team Miami (FL) and eventually was offered a scholarship. Decommitted from UT and committed to Miami (FL). Aaaand now he's back with the good guys. It sure seems as if The University of Toledo beat out the University of Miami (FL) for a coveted speedy recruit, which is a big testament to our University and current coaching staff.

3 big-time commits for the Rockets in the past two weeks:

- 3 star WR Neru N'Shaka
- 3 star ATH Desmond Phillips
- 3 star OLB Ron George

Keep it up coach Candle & staff.

Now the coach has to keep convincing recruits that still have stars in their eyes that there will be a staff in place that can get them to the "next level" as well as part of a winning program. Strength and conditioning might be his most important hire. Did the last guy leave any protégé's?

With this I'd agree with you and hope that we're both right. I was beginning to feel like a counter-part, lol.

Pitt might be the one on the outside, looking in for Mathews. He has official visits setup to Toledo (1/22) and WVU right now. He really likes Penn State and hopes to setup an official visit with them. There are only 3 weekends left for official visits, so Pitt would be the school without a visit.
