In the end, I guess it doesn't matter .. . The season, while disappointing is still better than a year ago . . . Let's play it out, and see what we have to build on for next year.

Early in season I was convinced Texas St. was a top 4-5 team in the conference but once you guys got on that losing streak it was like a snowball rolling downhill.

After the win in our place, I thought they were really onto something, too. It constantly surprised me when I'd check the standings and realize they may not make the tourney.

Only way you're getting into the NIT is if you win the league and don't win the tournament.

Probably true for all of us, which makes it a shame that the conference MIGHT have a better outcome from NOT sending its season champ to the dance, since we'd then get a team in both of the tourneys general MBB fans care about, at least a little. The only NIT prognosticator that I ever note (maybe the only one out there...?) currently has GSU as an NIT 8-seed, but I'd imagine the circumstances leading to our not going to the dance would probably eliminate NIT consideration as well: http://bracketmatrix.com/nit

True or not the belief here at GS is that we are going to some post season tourney, hopefully the NCAA. If we don't win the SB tourney I would hope the school would campaign to get us in the NIT. Failing that I would like to see us in one of the other ones. It has been so long since we have had a year like this -- these kids deserve a shot in the postseason. I don't care if it is the CIT or whatever.

Does GS have the support and budget to enter into a pay to play/host tourney like the CIT? Just curious.

I am not sure but have heard we will do whatever we can to make sure this team gets a postseason opportunity somewhere.

Yeah, I think after a year like this, you make something happen. When we had the chance to play in the CIT a few years ago, we weren't going to act like we were too good for it. The kids deserved it, especially after (similar to GS this year) they jumped out and surprised so many people.

Still a lot of ball to play before any of us need to be looking at the CIT, though...
