I still vote to have it at the Palestra, but maybe that's just me.

RE: I guess we aren't close to selling out our allotment
CT is a beautiful state and Hartford is a once grand city that is now starting to show signs of resurgence. I hope it warms up next week for my own sake and any visitors coming in for the tourney. Hartford's St. Patrick's Day parade is actually next Saturday 3/14 and there is a large convention in town that weekend. Our St. Patrick's Day parade is pretty big and should make for a really fun atmosphere downtown with the tournament and other things going on.
I know most people have really low expectations of Hartford but I think the tourney will be pretty well supported here and it should be an enjoyable trip for those who do come up.

A Tourn held during "Spring Break" in Orlando should bring plenty of visitors down for the tournament...and hopefully the 2 local teams (UCF and USF) fans will show up in good numbers for the short drive.
I really hate to say it, and I hope I'm wrong, but I think this is going to be a disaster. Unless UCF has a remarkable turnaround and real buzz about our season, our fans aren't going to show up for our own games, let alone anyone else's. I don't expect Bulls fans to travel well either. I'm sure some of the better schools will travel well, but it's not realistic or fair to expect anyone else to bring enough fans to keep the Amway Center from looking cavernously empty on TV. It's not like this area is nuts about college basketball, so I don't expect too many fans to come in "off the street," either.
It might but any location, if the home team is not playing, does not draw well (same in Memphis, same in Hartford, same in Orlando, etc...).
Still, odds are you will get more traveling fans to show up if you have it located where those (especially out of state) like to travel to (i.e. Orlando), especially in the Spring.
City of Orlando put up the bucks so they get to host for 2 years.

Spring break isn't the cheapest time to get to and stay in Orlando.
Conference tournaments are generally a long shot for me anyway, so I'm ok with host cities being the ones that will support best and show most big-time.

And call it The Pornhub AAC Basketball Championship. Have it run by pornstars. Ratings would be solid.....pun intended.

I think Orlando will be pretty good. Easy flight, good weather, and most teams will be better next year.

What about having the "American" conference championship in the most "American" city of Washington D.C.?
It seems like a good marketing strategy.

I hope Philly gets a chance to host the AAC championship - that'd be a great spot to host something called The American... I can see championship logos with liberty bell and etc.

I really miss MSG and the Big East in March...the downside of CR.

Spring Break(s) in Orlando is basically 6-8 weeks long (Starts with Daytona Speedweeks ends with Easter, which is generally the busiest week of the Spring).
With so many flights in/out of Orlando...and with 130,000 plus hotel rooms, deals can almost always be found.
Dates are already known for 2016 Tourn in Orlando (plan now)
Thur March 10 - Sunday March 13 (Easter is March 27)
2017 AAC Tourn in Orlando
Thur March 9 - Sunday March 12 (Easter is April 16)

it's too bad the Connecticut River is frozen they have some nice river boat party cruises where you can have a nice dinner and everything. Hartford isn'nt a bad city it's getting better, it's about an eighth of the size of Boston though.

RE: I guess we aren't close to selling out our allotment
my wedding night we stayed at a beautiful hotel in Hartford before we went to Bermuda for our honeymoon. Hartford has gotten better and nicer. when I live there they had an NHL franchise. I went to some games have dinner then they left and moved to Carolina .,Hartford was busy during the day but not to at night .
I always said Hartford had to do more to build up the river front . they did a little but not enough

Would only have to sign up at one, and then we can take The American across America.

Rental cars are horrifically expensive during March...you need a car in Orlando and one of those Sunpass thingies to use the 98 different toll roads. Tampa Bay>>>Orlando

This. It's the equivalent of Wrigley Field or Fenway Park for college basketball. It would look great on TV, as well.

It's all about the code...gotta have the secret discount codes for rental cars (Orlando and/or any other location). Weekly rates are cheap/steals.

Yeah I heard...I figure I'll wait until I get my license changed to FL. Most Tourons get ripped off on cars.
