That said beating ODU will not happen and I doubt we can win at Charlotte. We have a young team that heavily relies on 1-2 guys and if they don't play well, we're screwed.

Hopefully we can get some bigs in house within the next year or so and challenge the upper half of the league.

Agreed

One thing is for sure for a FB school putting that many butts in the seats for watching a team that has only won 9 games this season is beyond impressive and you guys should be proud. I can't believe you guys are third in attendance till date and I am aware some teams are having down year this season but very very impressive. Hoping to beat you guys at our place this Thursday 04-cheers

Thank You 12thmonarch. Truth is...Marshall has always had good support for both football and basketball. Even a couple years ago during some down years in football, we still brought in 25-27K regularly. Much like ODU, we have no pro sports in the area and many of the Alumni still live in the area. Had near 6K in the arena that other night and by the sound of our crowd you would have thought we were playing for a regular season CUSA championship...LOL. Huntington is a great college sports town. Always has, always will be. And I've said this many times and will say it again.....I'm happy as hell to have ODU in CUSA and I know our administration does as well. I think Marshall and ODU will have some great competitions in the years ahead.

I could see ODU and Marshall having an Alabama and Auburn Iron Bowl thing going. Each year we play each other, the fans will give the game a name, like the Lion Bowl or the Herd Bowl. I remember when the Herd came to Norfolk, EVERYBODY knew about it and they brought A LOT of fans! This is one of the games where if we had the capacity, Foreman field would have saw 50,000 easily! A lot of people in the football starved Hampton roads area want to come to our games, but can't, hints why we have sold out of every game we have ever played!

I think it would be great to come up with a game moniker or traveling trophy for the Marshall/ODU series. I say we get on the horn with our respective AD's and see if they can make it happen. We do a yearly "Battle for the Bell" trophy with Ohio. Something similar with ODU would be cool.

We kind of have that same thing with Norfolk State University which is less than 5 miles away from us. Its called "the battle of the 757." We have not loss to them and probably won't. I want to say we will probably blow them out this time, especially if you consider how well we did defensively against most of the FBS, I say they will be lucky to score a touchdown against us. They do have a good tailback who came from us, but I am 1000% positive Wilder knows exactly how to shut him down. I don't know, but we will see. I really have no interest in playing teams from the CAA, however if the JMU Dukes keep talking trash, I will start praying for ODU to schedule them.
