And then there were two: C-USA title down to Tech, UAB
A wild and crazy Conference USA regular season is about to wrap up with just two contenders left standing.
Louisiana Tech, which maintained its stranglehold on first place in Saturday's win over Texas-San Antonio, and UAB are the only two teams with a chance to win the C-USA title.
Tech is a game up on UAB and earned at least a share of the title Saturday. The Bulldogs can wrap up an outright title next week against Southern Miss.
UAB, meanwhile, nearly fell out of the race for good, needing three overtimes to beat Middle Tennessee on Saturday.

I would like to see UAB win the reg season, that way they lock up an NIT bid. Then La Tech wins the tournament and ODU gets to the final and gets an at large. Then maybe UTEP or WKU go NIT as well. That is my dream scenario to get 4 teams in NCAA and NIT. Of course all of this is only if the Herd can't win the tournament

I would take that but the higher probability event is probably La Tech winning outright regular season. And UAB winning the CUSA tournament.

That would be optimal and of course I would love for ODU to run the tournament and leave no doubts but if we must lose the CCG I would hope that plays out.
That would be huge for CUSA. One commentator said last night nobody outside CUSA knows just how competitive this league is and it's blatantly true. Watching a ESPN broadcast last night and they talked about every single team in their images showing Joe's bubble teams. Old Dominion was clearly on the screen but never mentioned like the rest. We need better exposure as a whole, some really fun basketball being played.

I think next year (God willing, we are in CUSA) will be even better for the league, with multi bids to the NCAA. Marshall, North Texas, and Rice have shown huge improvement. UTSA had a great conference season but has hit the skids. UAB, La Tech, UTEP, WKU, and Old Dominion should be Top 100 teams easily. Charlotte and MT will also bounce back and could join these teams in the Top 100.
